The role of surgery in acne is in reducing ice pick scars. These scars can be cut out and stitched. Later sanding down the areas (called dermabrasion) can level the scars.

A better approach is to have injections under the skin like Sculptra and microdermabrasion or laser treatments to improve the skin quality.
