Should I Avoid Second Hand Smoke in a Casino 5 Days Before Breast Lift?

I am having a bilateral mastopexy in 5 days. I would like to go out tomorrow night with my husband (possibly to a casino) and there will be smoking. Should I not go because of the second hand smoke? I am not smoking but I am worried about being around it before my surgery. Thank you so much.

A: Smoking and surgery

Even second hand smoke can hurt your result and result in significant complications as noted as the other physicians that answered.

I also like to point out that even the nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and the like can hurt your result.  To minimize complication risk, minimize your exposure to any form of nicotine.

I hope this helps, good luck!

Cresent Lift Scar and Crease Directly Below Scar

I just had a crescent lift a week and a half ago when I took the surgical tape off I noticed two distinct lines. One is the scar and the other seems to be a crease. The nurse told me it will go away but it has been days and no improvement in the slightest. It is very unsightly and the crease is worse than the scar. Is this common? Will it indeed go away?

A: Deep sutures making an indentation....

The crease you are looking at is being created by the deep absorbable sutures your surgeon placed.  Discuss this with your surgeon.  We all have different surgical techniques as to how to place sutures and that is why his nurse is likely used to seeing incisions that look like this.  It will probably take a month or so for this line you are seeing to start to go away.  Talk to your surgeon about scar massage etc.   Good luck!

Crescent Lift Scars

I'm currently in the entertainment industry, I will be getting silicone gel implants and maybe a crescent lift. How long will it take for the scar to be unnoticeable, due to the fact i have to take my shirt off?

A: Scars take quite some time to fade...

Often it takes 6 months for scars to fade to an acceptable level.  This car vary greatly on many factors including skin tone, genetics, surgical technique, and luck.  Often you can use some make-up to hide the incision once it is ok with your surgeon.

You should be aware that a crescent type of incision only gives you minimal amount of lift.  This is an incision the is good for altering very slight differences in nipple position from side to side but does not lift the breast much.

Good luck!
