I really didn't want to lose the tightness I had on the sides of my face which included a well-defined cheekbone area. Have I lost this definition and the hollowness under the my cheekbones, which I actually liked?
The SMAS lift can at times be secured to the cheek bone and that can make the area look fuller in some cases, especially when the SMAS was imbricated instead of trimmed. It is not the usual though as the surgeon can typically see what technique needs to be done prior to performing the procedure.
Post SMAS I developed a deep C shaped dimple upon animation It begins with a dimple punctuating highest part of the central crest of my cheekbone with a substantial depression angling toward my ear. After 5 years later the depression became very wide deeper & more painful. The ENTIRE area was undermined & untethered, layered w/ fat & dermis. It has remained! I continue to feel the stitch-like pull! What's the cause & cure, can anyone help!
A dimple after a facelift can occur when the tissue underneath the skin are tightened, like with a SMAS lift. In most cases, with time, the stitches holding it in place dissolve and the dimple goes away. A little massage will at times speed it up.
I had a SMAS lift in May. I think my PS did an excellent job, as overall, I have been very pleased with the result. However, in the last month, I have noticed my wattle is returning. Right at my throat - I have that line of skin that stretches under my chin back. So much so, that I can flick the loose skin with a finger. I know he tightened me as much as possible during sx, so this clearly is my skin settling back in. What is my best option and when would you suggest any revision be done?
It is not uncommon for the central skin of the neck to loosen after a facelift as the further you are from the incisions, the faster the problem returns. It might need a neck procedure to tighten the skin a bit more.
