Hi i had a laser hair removal treatment 2 days ago and have been burnt and i am scared that i am scarred for life on my face.I have had a few treatments from this lady before but this has never happened i think its is due to the high intensity of the laser and her being under qualified.I just want to know if these scars will fade away? and how long it would take for them to fade away as my wedding is approaching and what can i do or use to make it better. Please help me i am devastated.
I am very sorry about your treatment. This is quite simply, post hyperpigmentation from high laser settings. Over time, you may need to use a strong Rx like hydroquinone 8-12% to treat the post inflammatory hyperpigmented areas that you have, but I would start here:
1. Wash gently with your hands (do not exfoliate, scrub, pick, use a sponge or loofah, etc.) with a mild soap like Dove.
2. Apply something that will keep the area moist, like Aquaphor, for several days. You can also use hydrocortisone if you have any redness, either over-the-counter or prescription strength. Make sure you apply both of these with your skin damp.
3. Do not pick your skin. If you have any scabs, you need to place a cool rag on those spots and gently remove them. Do not pull them off; do not allow them to stay there. Scabs in the general sense, equate to scars.
4. Hopefully in the next few days these brown pigmented areas may start to lighten. If not, please call a dermatologist and get the prescription that I listed above - hydroquinone. It targets brown pigment.
5. Keep the area out of the sun and use a good sunscreen with good ingredients. Your newer skin will be more susceptible to burns so be very, very careful in the sun!
I have fair skin and dark hiar .2 years ago I done 8 treatment to remove hiar in my face but It didnt work .Now I want to try to remove hiar. Can I try agian ?It is safe to me or not?
Hair removal works best on people who are fair skinned with dark hair. I'm sorry you didn't have any results. I would determine what type of machine was used on you last time, and avoid using that same machine again. There' s nothing wrong with undergoing another treatment series, in fact, all hair removal series require some maintenance, i.e., a treatment or two a year. As your body ages, new hair follicles will develop. Receivng maintenance treatments allows these new follicles to undergo treatment as well.
Will reduced temperature of the laser effect the improvement in hair growth negatively? The Doctor reduced the temperature this time saying that the hand piece was replaced and hence would generate more heat at the usual temperature. Now post treatment i feel that the hair growth is fast. Also how long does the Facial grow if not treated? I mean is there any duration after which the growth stops?
Sometimes when a new head is sent from a company for the laser, or a replacement, or a new one is purchased, you do need to lower the settings because they are sometimes higher or hotter. That's not uncommon to do because it keeps you from getting burned or the settings being too high. I'm unsure what area of your body is being treated, but yes, each body area does have a growth rate and hair turnover rate. The face is usually just a few weeks, while the legs are a few months. There are different stages of hair growth and each body area goes through these stages at different rates. That's why we recommend shorter lengths between hair removal treatments to the face, and longer lengths between treatments to the legs. It's important to hit each different cycle of growth for maximum effectiveness and overall results.
