A: senasation after a facelift

the manner in which the incisions are closed will not affect the sensation of the cheek. Using tissue adhesives underneath the skin will possibly speed healing but will also not affect the sensation in the skin. The sensation is altered because small nerves are cut and it takes time for them to grow back and become functional.

How Should You Sleep and Take Care of Your Skin After a Facelift? What would you recommend for the best position to sleep in AFTER (post op) surgery? Also, what skin care regime would you recommend pre and post op?

A: Post op facelift care

After a facelift, it is important that the surgical site remains undisturbed. I recommend that my patients sleep on their back with their head elevated for a few weeks after surgery. This minimizes swelling and the tissues from being disturbed. Speak with your plastic surgeon to see which skin care protocol they recommend.

Facelift Surgery Before and After Photos I'm considering face lift surgery, and I want to talk with a few different surgeons. What should I look for in facelift before and after pictures? How will I know what is good?

A: Facelift Before and After Photos

It is important that you identify with surgeon and the types of patients you are seeing in the photo. In general, you want to see if the patient looks natural. Do you like the jaw line? Do you like the way the corner of the mouth changed position, if at all? Many photos will look great in the post op. The patients have makeup on. . .their hair is done. . .they're smiling. . .etc. The real test of natural results is how do they look in the photo if the hair and makeup is unchanged. Also, if you notice that the skin quality is better or the chin is stronger, the patient may have has laser resurfacing and and chin implant. Ask your surgeon was anything else done to enhance the patient in this example you're showing me. Most facelifts are benefited by some laser resurfacing, chin implants, or volumization with fat transfer or other fillers. Ask for the complete treatment regiment.
