Tumescent Liposuction Breast Reduction

I am quite young - and would prefer not to have the risks and scars of a traditional breast reduction. However, I have DD cup breasts, which are heavy, embarassing and uncomfortable. I am quite young (20) and am thin elsewhere. Is there a way to tell how much of a reduction I might be able to achieve through liposuction? My ideal would be a B-C cup. Thanks in advance!

A: Liposuction Best with Fatty Breasts

hi LaraJane:  Breast liposuction to reduce breast size is a very attractive concept and anyone would prefer no scars to any scars if the result were the same.  however as has been said, liposuction does not give any uplift to the breast (nipple position may actually drop due to deflation of the breast without skin tightening) and the amount of reduction is limited, ordinarily to one or 2 cup sizes. (and most large breasted women are under-estimating their cup size when i examine them...).

but the most critical limiting factor is that liposuction only removes fat.  Breast tissue itself is not removed by the liposuction process.  that makes it a poor option for young women who had rapid breast growth made up of firm breast tissue.  if an examination were possible, i would expect that, based on the fact that you are quite thin, your breasts are comprised primarily of firm breast tissue that is not amenable to liposuction removal. Because liposuction removes only fat, liposuction is most effective in women whose  breast texture is primarily fatty tissue.

check with your board certified plastic surgeon to see if you are even a candidate for breast liposuction and to find out what compromise to your final result you will have to make to avoid the typical skin reduction scars that breast reduction ordinarily requires.  with surgical reduction, most patients can enjoy a significant size decrease (up to 50% in volume), elevation of the nipple to a more youthful level and tightening of the skin to give a more uplifted and less droopy appearance.

Our breast reduction patients belong to one of the happiest groups of patients in all of plastic surgery....scars and all!!!

Best of luck to you! Dr. H

Is 36B Too Small for Breast Reduction Surgery?

My breasts are by no means too large nor are they causing me physical pain but I desperately want perkier breasts. I am 21 years old with rather saggy and asymmetrical 36B breasts with very large areola. I am 5'6' and 145 lbs; I've lost about 90lbs in the past two years, though my breasts have always sagged. I started developing breasts at around nine years old. I would like to reduce my cup size to an "A" as well as have a lift followed by an areola reduction.

A: Redution and lift for B to A cup.

What you are describing is more of a breast lift.  The areola will be reduced in size with this procedure.  One can make an argument for taking a small amount of tissue.  Best to see a few Board Certified Plastic Surgeons.  Take photos of what you want to achieve.  Ask to see his before and after photos.   Together you will come up with a good plan.

Should I Need a Free Nipple Graft for Breast Reduction?

I have had several consults in the area, hearing from all of them that I would most likely need a free nipple graft. I'm 29 years old so this isn't particularly appealing. lol Wear 38I/J bras, would like to be 38D but would do 38DD if it would avoid FNG. Measurements: Notch to Nipple: 38L, 37R Fold to Nipple: 17L, 16R Est tissue removal: 1800-2000g per side Do you have any advice? Agreement? Disagreement? Thanks.

A: Free nipple graft with breast reduction

Hard to tell with out photos or an exam.  Free nipple grafts are rare these days.  Most can be addressed with moving the nipple areola complex on a pedal of tissue. Good to see several board certified plastic surgeons.  Also would ask if they do many of these, and are they experienced with large reductions.  Ask to see before and after photos.  Also a good idea to bring in photos that you like.  Together you will be able to make an informed decision.
