Omaha Tummy Tuck doctors

A tummy tuck which is also referred to as an abdominoplasty is a procedure to enhance the appearance of the abdomen.  It consists of 3 basic steps:

1. Skin removal and tightening
2. Subcuataneous fat removal
3. Muscle tightening

The recovery is very similar to a C-Section or Hysterectomy recovery.  The first week lifting is limited to 15 lbs maximum and the patients usually walk slowly and bend over.  The second week the weight limitaion is increased to 30 pounds and more normal walking.  After the second week many patients return to work if it is more sedentary, active work jobs and heavy lifting, pulling or straining are still difficult for another 2 weeks.  Most women need help with small children for the first week.

Vigorous physical activity and contact sports are limited for 4-6 weeks.  Everyone's recovery is different, and everyone's tummy tuck is different, the recovery time will vary from individual to individual.

This is a wonderfull operation that will make the tummy flat FOREVER, WITHOUT SIT-UPS!!  But, you have to be willing to trade the appearance for the scar, which is long, but well placed, and hidden in all clothing and bathing suits.

The cost of a tummy tuck varies not only from city to city, but from person to person.  There are many types of tummy tucks and the fees vary based on the length of the surgery.  In Omaha, Nebraska @ our office the fee varies from $5,000-$8,000.  This fee includes the folowing:

1. Pre-operative consultation and photographs with analysis
2. Surgeon's professional fee
3. Anesthesia fee
4. Operating suite fee
5. All post operative garments
6. All post operative office visits and photographs
7. Ten (10) post operative sessions on our Endermologie machine to improve the results
8. No charge for any touch up procedure if needed

The componets of a tummy tuck include the following:

• Skin removal from abdomen (hips and back if needed)
• Fat removal from abdomen, hips and back
• Muscle tightening of the Rectus Abdominis muscles
• Umbilical hernia repair, if needed
• Contouring of the Mons Pubis

A tummy tuck is a major operation, comparable to a C-Section or a Hysterectomy.  It should be undertaken only under ideal circumstances in healthy, non-smoking individuals who are finished with child bearing.  It is meant to be a permanent correction of the contour of the abdomen, therefore no pregnancies should occur after the procedure.  This can usually be performed as an outpatient in our Ambulatory Surgery Center located in our office.

The decision on what procedure to perform is based on the patient's expectations, the surgeon's evaluation, cost, time off of work, the patient's health, previous abdominal scars, smoking history and the desire for future pregnancy.  An in depth consultation with a board certified Plastic Surgeon experienced in body contouring surgeries is recommended.  Sometimes a combination of the above listed procedures is needed.
