I Massaged Lumps in Lower Lip from Juvederm Now my Lip is Huge. Why?

Roughly two weeks ago i had juvederm injected in both my upper and bottom lips. Since then I had problems with my upper lip.. one side was bigger than the other so I got hyduronidase injected.. which corrected the problem. Yesterday I was massaging my bottom lip because I had two lumps on either side.. and somehow the right side blew up. It is so much bigger than the left side. I don't know what happened. All I was doing was massaging the lumps. The doc won't see me for a week. HELP

A: Lip swelling?

#1 keep your 1 week appointment with your doc. Let's hope the swelling is just the trauma and will get better with time and ice. If some of the Juvederm was dislodged to the right side you will need the Hylaronidase injection to reduce the fullness. You could also ask your doc's staff to call if there are any cancellations so you can get in sooner.

Can Exercise Metabolize the Effects of Juverderm?

I had Juvederm in my lips a year ago with a repeated injection about a month later and the results both times lasted no more than 4 weeks. This past weekend I thought I would try it again and am afraid the same thing will happen. I want to go back to working out (pretty intensely) but I am afraid this could quicken the metabolism of the Juverderm? Is that possible or can I go ahead and start exercising again - I really miss it!

A: Fillers and exercise

I have seen several references in my professional journals regarding the lowering of longevity  of fillers in people who exercise due to the increase blood flow in the skin. I do know we see more bruising in my patients if they exercise the next day or two after injection. This  is  sad news to those of us who are addicted to working out but I think the benefit  of both fillers and exercise is worth it!

Worried About Laser and Facial Blistering- Will It Go Away? (photo)

I am a medium skin African American and had my second laser treatment on my face to remove discoloration. That same evening I had severer blistering that started to ooze. The doctor claimed she had to go deep in order to get results and that the blistering and oozing were normal. However after healing, I have more discoloration and It's even darker than before. I also have some pits in my skin that I can only assume are from the laser beam Is this normal for black skin and will my color return?

A: Skin Care for post laser side effects in skin of color

I would advise you to go see the treating doctor as soon as possible. You need very careful and thorough care to recover well including gentle cleansing, topical antibiotics to any open areas and eventually bleaching products, topical cortisone and possibly one of the vitamin A acid creams. You may also require a series of gentle chemical peels to even out the color. Please use very religious sun protection even on cloudy days.  I would look for a sun blocking product with at least 5% zinc oxide in it. Lycogel camouflage makeup by Dermacia probably has colored product that would be good for you.
