Could Juvaderm Injection Have Ruptured Chin Implant?

I had a chin implant 21 years ago. I am now 43. a few months ago I had a filler ( the one that can not be reversed with an enzyme ..juvaderm?) injected a few months ago in my jaw line and chin. When she injected my chin it felt like she hit a nerve and i was in a lot of pain for a week. Nerve activity for about 1 month, It is now 5 months later and i have a soreness in my chin area. DO you think the implant could have ruptured? What can i do??

A: Chin implants do not rupture

As many others have said, chin implants are made of solid materials and are not liquid or gel filled. Your pain and sensitivity are likely due to direct nerve irritation or injury from the injection process itself, and will likely resolve with time.

Is Juvederm for Lips Painful?

I went a couple days ago to get my lips plumped up with Juvederm. The MD applied a topical anesthetic and then proceded to give a local one like you get in your gums at the dentist. It was so painful that I fainted. I didn't even get to have my lips done. I'm too scared to go back and finish the procedure but I paid a lot of money. Is there any way this can be completed with out me having to pass out from the pain? Should lip injections hurt this bad?

A: Lip Augmentation Can and Should be Painless

Lip Augmentation, with Juvederm or any other product, can and should be painless. A skilled surgeon can administer an infraorbital nerve block with essentially ZERO pain. While this can be a painful block if not performed well, when it is done right patients feel almost nothing.

Once the block has been placed, the lips are totally numb to the lip augmentation procedure, and even surgery!

Good luck,

Lumpy Ridges and Bruises After Juvederm

I had Juvederm injected under my eyes for hollows. This was done almost 2 weeks ago. I have bruises under both eyes and small pillow-like ridges under both eyes. Is this normal? How long do the bruises last? What are these puffs of pillows?

A: Puffiness after Juvederm Injection Under Eyes

I'm sorry to hear you have bruising and puffiness two weeks after Juvederm injection under your eyes. Bruising will pass on its own. The puffiness may need treatment, depending on how bad it is. While I prefer Juvederm to all other fillers in the lower 2/3 of the face, I have stopped using it under they eyes, as I have occasionally seen patients look great at 2 weeks, but "puffy" under the eyes at 2 months, with Juvederm. I have never seen that occur with Restylane.

in any case, if the puffiness persists, find a surgeon with experience using hyaluronidase to reverse the Juvederm and you should do well.

Best,
