What is Wrong with my Eyes, They've Started Drooping? (photo)

Over the last few months, I've developed this odd drooping on my left eyelid, and a fold in my right. This seems to be most prominent in the evenings, and looks better when I'm well rested. I'm in my early 20's and can tell that this is quite a recent development. Not sure if it's relevant, but I have also started getting bad double and blurry vision and muscle weakness. What is wrong with my eyes? Is this ptosis? How can it be fixed? Thanks very much.

A: Droopy Eyelids and Double Vision

Dear Lawgirl_X,   The condition you describe appears not to be a cosmetic issue but a medical issue.  The early onset of your problems-in your 20's-, combined with blurred, double vision and muscle weakness are symptoms of perhaps a larger issue such as myasthenia gravis and need to be addressed by a neurologist and an ophthalmologist.  Please contact your primary care physician who can direct you to the appropriate specialist.  I wish you the best of luck.

Should I Have Eyelid Surgury Soon After Botox Which Caused an Eyelid to Droop?

I had botox injected about 10 days ago and now my left eyelid is drooping. I was planning to have upper eyelid surgury to remove some skin. Do I have to wait to have the surgury until the eyelid drooping from the botox corrects itself?

A: Droopy Eyelid After Botox-How Long To Wait For Surgery

Dear Terri,  While I am sure you are anxious to proceed with your eyelid surgery, I would advise you to wait until your droopy eyelid problems have resolved.  This may take anywhere from 2 months to 6 months depending how fast your Botox lasts.  If you have been using Botox before, you probably already have an idea of the average "lifespan" of the effects of your Botox treatments. It is important to wait until your eyelids have returned to their baseline appearance in order that your surgeon can as precisely as possible obtain the best symmetrical and cosmetic result.  While eye drops can help decrease the droopiness being cause by the Botox, they only work on one of the muscles being affected and therefore only will give a partial improvement and certainly not back to your normal baseline.  Think of it this way, you always want to go into any surgery in the best possible condition you can be.  Waiting a few extra months is worth it.  Good Luck.

Do I Nead Lower Eyelid Surgery or am I Losing Cheek Volume?

Hello to all:)' I have a kind bumps or shadow in my under eyelid in both of my eyes. When im tiread you can see better or when i have makeup on..I post picture for u see better wich area im talking about.. Do i nead lower eyelid surgery or is the ckeeks nead volume? Note:.If i strech the skin in the area and pull up the bump disapper. So what i nead to do? Thank you to all

A: Total Facial Harmony

I agree, the area you have outlined in black appears to be more of a festoon problem rather then the lower eyelid itself.  Although these problems do not happen in isolation from each other, I would first start with treatment of the festoon  (with deeper filler or fat).  If not corrected to your satisfaction, then more aggressive treatments can be offered.

Don't for get about the rest of your face while chasing after the bags. Your festoons don't look too severe from the photo and you have other aging issues/asymmetries as well which all contribute to the look of your age.  Find someone who will look over your entire face and offer a complete evaluation.  Good luck!
