Does Botox Have to Be Diluted Before Injecting?

Does Botox Have to Be Diluted Before Injecting?

A: Dilution of Botox

Dear Wgiddy,  Thank for your question.  The better way to describe how Botox must be prepared for use is that the product must be reconstituted before it can be used.  Botox is sent in a clear vial that if you looked it, appears empty.  The Botox protein is in the vial and saline has to be added to it to make it a liquid form for use.  How much saline is added is up to the individual injector and almost everyone has their favorite mixture ratio.  Hope this helps.

Is the Dilution of Botox Different for the Lower Face Than the Upper Face?

Is the Dilution of Botox Different for the Lower Face Than the Upper Face?

A: Botox Dilution-Should It be Different For Different Parts Of The Face?

Dear Anon3688,  How physicians inject Botox varies greatly from doctor to doctor.  Each doctor will use the technique that they feel will give them the most consistent and aesthetic results.  Some injectors will use the exact same dilution ratio with Botox everywhere they inject on the face and vary the dosage they inject.  Others will vary the dilution ratio to achieve the dosage they want.  Simply put, there is no one" right way' to inject Botox.  It more important that the doctor be confident and competent with the inject technique they use.  Anyone who tells you that "their technique" is the only way to use Botox I would avoid.

Do I Run the Risk of Eyebrow Drooping if I Have Botox Injected in Glabella?

Im getting married next month and decided do botox in glabella. Ive read that is safer because there is minimal risk of eyebrow drop or any other complications. Does injection of botox in glabella can cause any major complications, Im concern as Im getting married and want look my best.

A: Risk Of Eyebrow Droop and Botox

Dear Korki,  First congratulations on your big day!  I understand your concern to make it as perfect as it can be and thus your worries about Botox.  Botox is a very safe drug and most patients love their results.  Most complications of Botox have nothing to do with the front end of the needle but instead come from the back end; that is the side the injector is on.  A skilled and qualified injector can determine if Botox is the correct solution to address your concerns.  Treatment of the glabella region requires identifying the exact position of the muscles causing the undesired wrinkles and then determining the correct dose for paralyzing those muscles to obtain the desired result.  Mal-placement of the Botox can cause a mid-eyebrow droop and also rarely cause eyelid droop but these are very rare complications.

Please do your homework and research.  Look for a very skilled and qualified Botox injector.  Also, I think two weeks before your wedding should be enough time to allow you to have your Botox treatment and be all set for the big moment.  Again, congratulations and I wish the both of you a long and happy life together!
