This is a follow-up of my previous question here.
video of right eye blinking.first 2 voluntary. last one involuntary
You do appear to have symptoms of facial nerve injury on your right side, either due to the surgery or possibly unrelated (viral, Bell's palsy, etc).
Some ongoing recovery is expected over time. As the previous surgeon mentioned, professional eye care is extremely important to prevent eye infection due to incomplete blinking causing dryness of the cornea.
When your recovery plateaus, if need be, a small gold weight can be implanted into the right eyelid to allow much more normal involuntary blinking. In the meantime, a small amount of injectable filler performed by an experienced surgeon can simulate the same effect, allowing a 1 minute office procedure to give you complete eye closure while your condition finished healing. If there is still weakness, then the filler can be dissolved and a gold weight placed. If the weakness resolves 100%, simply dissolving the filler will do.
Are the changes in definition equal across the face with a facelift? Will certain areas be relatively unaffected by the lift?
When most people use the term Facelift they are referring to a lower facelift. With that surgery, the vast amount of improvement will be in the neck, the jowls (lower cheek tissue) and the marrionette lines. You may see some improvement in the the nasolabial lines and upper cheeks but that is more variable. A midface ift and brow lift will give more improvement to their respective areas. Add on procedures can be done at the same time as a facelift to tailor your surgery further and address any particular problems. Good luck!
How long will it take for the initial bruising to fade?
Everybody is different. It is amazing how different people recover after similar surgeries. This morning I saw someone completely bruise free one week after her facelift while later I saw someone at 3 weeks with a little residual bruising. In general, I tell my patients between 1-3 weeks. If they tend to bruise easily with injections or minor trauma then count on longer. If they don't bruise easily, count on less time. Good luck!
