Or perhaps do deeper troughs take longer for Sculptra to fill than less deep troughs? For example, someone has Sculptra deep under the eye muscle to fill their deep under-eye troughs and also has Sculptra in the cheeks. They find the cheeks grow well, but the eye troughs don't at all. Is it just a matter of time before the sculptra beneath the eye troughs eventually fill them? Perhaps the sculptra under the muscle of the eye troughs is always a few steps behind due to being deeper injection?
As more time goes by with the use of Sculptra, experienced clinicians are moving toward injections in the deeper tissues of the face. The deeper injections give a smooth, natural correction with less risk of a nodule or bump forming when Sculptra is placed just underneath the skin.
Sculptra is a bio-stimulator of new collagen. The appearance of the new collagen formation can be affected by:
- Older patients, or smokers develop collagen more slowly
- Deeper injections take longer to evidence the volume in the face
- The amount of Sculptra placed in each area will affect the amount of collagen growth
- Repeated injections in the same region will cause results to be more readily seen than widespread distribution of the Sculptra throughout the face.
Are the results of the sculptra liquid facelift comparable to plastic surgery facelifts? How so?
Sculptra addresses the volume loss from some of the most profound causes of aging = loss of facial fat and osteoporosis of the facial bones. Although Sculptra does not replace the fat or bone, it does stimulate new collagen to restore volume to the face. The new collagen is created entirely by you own body, and persists for up to 2 years.
I am a trainer for Sculptra and teach other physicians. I show them pictures of my patients who have a very stable correction at one year after their last treatment. My program is to use Sculptra once per month until the correction is complete; then I see every patient once a year thereafter to "touch-up" the Sculptra for maintenance. After all, they are a year older and have lost more volume with aging during that time.
My goal is to keep peoples' correction suspended over time with a comprehensive maintenance program. If you combine Sculptra with laser skin resurfacing and good skin care, the overall look is a natural rejuvenation.
I am a 25-year-old skinny girl who would like to have a chubbier face and therefore intend to have Sculptra injected. However, I heard that Sculptra helps to stimlate collegen rebuild instead of fat growth. I am afriad that my hollow face is not attributed to collegen loss and just because my face is born this way since my puberty. I wonder if Sculptra can help those who are genetically skinny to have a plumpy face.
Sculptra indeed builds brand new collagen in the areas of injection. This is very beneficial in younger people who show the earliest signs of aging, or were just born with some imbalance in their facial proportions (very common).
Sculptra has several distinct advantages over fat grafting:
- Sculptra volume does does vary when your body fat fluctuates
- Sculptra can be more precise than fat injections
- Sculptra does not have the down time associated with fat grafting.
After correction, I find that maintenance treatments can be as few as once per year.
