Chin Implant/Jaw Implant, Realistic Expectations? (photo)

My weak chin/jaw has bothered me for years and It's especially bad when I bite down. I now push my chin/jaw down and forward at all times in order to make it look like my jaw and chin are strong. I know some chin implants wrap around the jaw to make it more angular. Am I eligible for chin/jaw augmentation and is my 4th picture a reasonable expectation? The first 2 pictures are of me biting down. The third is how I hold my jaw normally. The fourth is how i'd like my jawline to look.

A: Chin Augmentation adds powerful dimension for a male profile

Your words "to make it look like my jaw and chin are strong" says it all. For a male, chin prominence is important for a strong and balanced face.

In the animal kingdom, humans are the only creature with a chin. In adolescent males, testosterone is what causes a strong jaw line & squared chin; estogen casues a smooth jaw line which is less well developed.

I perform chin augmentation with a small incision under the chin to lower the risk of infection. Silicone or other biocompatible materials are used for the implant. There is some swelling and slight bruising for the first week or so. The procedure is popular and has a high satisfaction rate.

Risk of Infection After Facial Implant?

Could you give me some figures on the prevalence of infections after a facial(chin/cheek/jaw) implant. 1 out of …? How many get an infection? Based on your own experience. And how many of these cannot be treated/healed with antibiotics, but must instead remove their implants? Is it easier to get an infection around a silicone implant than porex implant? Thanks in advance.

A: facial implants and infection

I only have used silicone implants. Considering all the necessary precauions are observed, the incidence of infection should be around 2-3 per cent. Infected implants have to be removed. Administration of antibiotics before, during and after surgery is a good idea and reduces the chances of infection, at least in my experiences.

Up/down Pulse and Hypertension, Would General Anesthesia or Local with Sedation be Safe for me While Getting Chin Implant?

A holtor monitor showed my heart rate rises into the high 140s and falls into the low 40s throughout the course of the day. My cardiologist said that my heart was fine after a full work-up, even though no explanation was found. Pre-op EKG showed my heart rate at 46. I take low dose (1/2 pill) metoprolol 1x/day + Catapres for hypertension. Is it safe for me to go under general anesthesia for a chin implant and submental lipo, or would local (with sedation?) be safer for me? Thanks...

A: chin implant

You do not need to have general anesthesia to have a chin implant. It is a relatively short operatiuon , 30 to 40 minutes. Your viatal signs, pulse rates and blood pressure should be monitored while local anesthetic is providing numbness in the chin area. It is a good idea to have a medical clearance from your primary M.D. before undergoing any elective procedures anyway.
