Chemical Peel Recovery Time

I am a professional, very busy. Cannot afford to be out of work for long recovering from a  chemical peel. How much downtime can I expect from chemical peels of different depths?

A: Degree of chemical peels and the effect on healing times

Recovery time after a chemical peel depends on what kind of peel was done and how deep it was. With all types of peels, proper care of the skin after the peel is very important to speed healing, help results last longer, prevent infection, and avoid color changes (hyper/Hypo pigmentation) in the treated area.
There are different types of chemical peels, ranging from mild (alpha hydroxy acids; AHA) to medium (trichloroacetic acid; TCA) to deep (phenol) intensities. As a general rule, the deeper the chemical peel, the more dramatic the result and the more severe the effects will be. Common side effects with all these treatments are redness, flaking and scaling, sandpaper feeling skin that can turn brown or a copper color during the peeling process and increased sensitivity to the sun. The healing time is much shorter for mild treatments (1 -3 days) compared to medium and deep chemical peels that can have a healing time of up to 2-3 weeks.

How Soon Can I Get Mastopexy Surgery After Massive Weight Loss Caused by Bariatric Surgery

Does it matter if you experienced massive weight lost with bariatric surgery or naturally for determining when a mastopexy could be allowed?

A: Reconstructive procedures after weight loss

As a board certified reconstructive surgeon, who partners with one of the leading bariatric programs in the US, I have been asked this questions thousands of times.  A patient should only consider a procedure to tighten skin as a result of weight loss, either though a surgery or dieting, when the weight loss has stopped.  And more important when the patient is happy  with the achieved weight goal they set for themselves.  Many insurance companies will cover reconstructive procedures of the abdomen and breasts (reduction only) after weight loss.
