I had a mini tummy tuck 2 months ago and Im pleased with the results however the dr ask me if I wanted to have revision surgery on my scar after I have healed of course.I have a normal horizontal scar and also a vertical scar where my belly button was and there wasnt enough skin to remove it all.I have a new belly button. He said he could get that vertical scar alot shorter and do a little more lipo.Im worried if he removes more skin it will be too tight but I would love this scar to be smaller.
Ask yourself what you see that might be of concern. Find out what it is that your surgeon sees. Ask if he is charging you for the revision. Request an explanation of the possible risks to operating again. Discuss the possible advantages of waiting until 9 months after the surgery to let all the swelling settle down and the scars soften and then re-evaluating whether the revision surgery is necessary. Once you have this information, you can make a better decision about whether to proceed at this time.
Good Luck!
I had a shave biopsy done on my cheek for a mole that was flat on the surface. It has left me with a round hole the size of a pencil eraser. It has been 13 weeks and still looks bad to me. Will this ever level out or what can be done to fix it with out having an excision done to correct it. One end of the scar sticks up a little more which seems to be making the shadowing of the scar more noticeable.
Dear Steph, I suggest considering a procedure known as "subcision", combined with a spot Dermabrasion or chem-abrasion. Your dermatologist/plastic surgeon can help you decide , after considering your skin type [ fair skin vs olive complexion]. A filler may be an option, after this maneuver[s]
I've been told they are ice pick but i don't know if all of them are ice pick or just some of them. I have a feeling I have a mixture of ice pick and boxscar/rolling but not sure. What treatment would you suggest for the indents? Is TCA Cross something I should consider? Thanks
Dear Hope11, the scars that show in the pictures you posted, would respond to CROSS technique, as you mentioned. Other options are punch excision, or punch grafting. Subcision can be done for more shallow scars. Any of the aforementioned procedures can be later enhanced by a resurfacing procedure such as dermabrasion, sandabrasion, chemabrasion, or fractional/ablative laser. Your dermatologist/plastic surgeon can discuss which method[s] would be best for your skin type & your work/social engagements.
