Am I a Good Candidate for Abdominal and Thigh Liposuction?

I'm 43 years old with a fairly good skin tone. I'm 5"7, 137 lbs. I exercise 5 days a week and follow a healthy diet. No matter how much weight I lose, i still have fat in my abdomen and thighs. I'm considering liposuction on these areas but not sure if i'm a good candidate especially that I have cellulite in the thighs.

A: You may be a great candidate!

You have been given some great answers by the other surgeons who have responded to your questions.  Without photos it is impossible for any of use to say for sure.  Better yet, a consultation would answer the question about your cellulite being a problem or not.  One possibility is to combine liposuction with Endermologie which is a treatment used for cellulite.  These two treatment together can sometimes lead to a very desirable result.

What will my body look like 2 years post-Lipo?

Hi, I consider myself to be fairly fit - I am 5'4", 135 lbs - I work out 3-4x a week doing cardio and strength training. I am about a size 6 in US sizes.  I'm considering to get lipo on my inner thighs, so they do not 'touch' anymore. I just like the skinny jeans look, and my thighs have always looked a bit thick due to that pocket of fat. However, after reading this forum (especially the "did you gain weight after liposuction"), I am hesitating on getting liposuction. I definitely do not want the fat to return, or redistribute itself in a different area such as my arms or my back. If my body does not need much liposuction, would that still pose a big risk for me? If so, I'll run far away from lipo... but if it's very unlikely that it would happen, I'll still consider it.

A: I think it woulf be fine

Although you didn't give us pictures, you are obviously not a big person.  Inner thigh liposuction is fine as long as it is not overdone.  A small amount of fat removal from that area (100 -150 cc) is not likely to result in much difference in the way fat is distributed around your body.  Also, if it is done in a careful way, without removing too much fat, I don't think irregularity or wrinkling is a big concern.  In general, after liposuction is done, when you gain weight, the fat is evenly distributed to other parts of your body.  It's not that fat removal in your tummy will suddenly make your hips bigger.   This is because you don't make new fat cells, you just store the additional fat in the fat cells you already have. I think you are probably a good candidate for liposuction, just don't over do it.

Will I Benefit from Liposuction? 15 Lbs. Lost This Year (photo)

Hello all, I am 20 years old, I weigh 140lbs, I'm 5'4'' & I have lost about 15lbs over the past year. I want my tummy to be flat & tighter, I went in for a consultation the other day & was recommended liposuction. But I am afraid of loose skin. I would like to know your opinion: Would I benefit from liposuction??

A: Liposuction should help

There are generally three components to dealing with an unsightly tummy: removal of skin, fat and tightening laxity that generally results from pregnancy.  Liposuction will remove only the excess fat, while a tummy tuck will also remove the excess skin and tighten the underlying muscles.  Most 20 year olds have excellent skin tone, and therefore, recover very well from liposuction.  If you have been pregnant, exercise can help to tighten the muscle under some circumstances, but sometimes this also requires an operation.  Pregnancy can also result in extra skin that won't recover very well from liposuction.  Then a tummy tuck would be in order.  Many women will judge the amount of extra skin by bending forward at the waist as you have in your photos.  There has to be a little extra skin in this pose or you wouldn't be able to stand up straight.

I suspect you would do fine with liposuction judging only by your photographs.  At your age, the added benefit from a tummy tuck are unlikely to be worth the long scar.  Hope this helps!
