I am 42 5'2" & about 130 pounds. I had breast implants 20 yrs ago. They encapsulated and caused me lots of complications. I got them replaced & removed 4 years later. I now have uneven breast - 1 A cup & 1 AA cup & they are different shapes now. My question is -since Im not a candidate for implants, would you recommend fat grafting for me if I only want to inject fat into the smaller breast (AA) so that it can be the same size & shape as the (A) cup? How much fat would I need? thanks!
Breast Augmentation using Fat Transplantation is a good approach for patients who have had problems with implants (you) and for patients with breast Asymmetry (you again). Besides expertise of doctor, importan: 1. how to harvest fat to have greatest number of live fat cells (stem cells. using new 'Body jet', 'Aqua Lipo' techniques or older technique by hand with a syringe? 2. how fat is injected in face for fat-stem cells to remain alive -using live fat tissue, FAMI fat-muscle injection or standard fat injection -under skin? of all failed attempts and disasterous results. which of above methods have best results and less detrimental.
Fat injections adds an important dimension to a comprehensive facial rejuvenation program. Experience in facial fat grafting is of utmost importance. Therefore, the best technique is the one your surgeon used a few hundred of times. Good follow up after previous fat grafting procedures will allow your facial surgeon to judge what works and what does not. Constantly changing techniques only adds variables and uncertainty.
This question is posed to doctors who perform fat grafting to the breast. On average how long does the procedure take, and what is your average cost? Fat Grafting to the breast can be routinely performed by a single surgeon in under two hours. This is a fact. See the link below for our paper published in June, 2011 Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The average volume of breast increase long term was 250cc, or a doubling of breast size. Patients who have results at 4-6 months have kept their results 4-5 years now. Fat grafting to the breast can result in mammographic abnormalities , however, these are readily distinguishable from cancer. The statement "most of the fat goes away" is simply not true. I would encourage any of our colleagues who inform patients that fat grafting does not work or is not safe to read the exciting work that is comng out in our specialty's journals. Although I perform many breast augmentations, I believe implants have their own set of problems. Where this will settle out is that there will be a subset of women who will prefer natural fat for minor augmentation, and there will always be a need for implant augmentations. The two are not interchangable, have different aesthetic results, and will appeal to different patient groups.
