I had a facelift approximately 4 years ago and have started to get the deep fowls around my mouth. I'm 60 years old and want to look vibrant for my age but do not want a another facelift. Are there other alternative that will help the wrinkles and jowls?
If you are starting to notice sagging of jowls and deepening of the nasolabial and marionette lines, you have a few connservative options before resorting to a second face lift in 5 years.
Botox injection (nefertiti injection) can cause a subtle but noticible elevation of the jowles.
Non-invasive soft tissue tightening with Thermage and the new Ultherapy may be an excellent maintenance strategy.
Fractional CO2 peel will not only inprove the texture of the skin but it also causes tightening and a microlift
Cheek and or chin implants can reestablish good facial skeletal projection and elevate the jowls effectively
finally, if jowls are the main concern, and the above conservative options are not appealing or appropriate, you may see significant improvement with a midface lift as opposed to another traditional or mini-face lift.
Hello.. I am 34 years old, 5"2 147lbs..I am about 20 lbs overweight, however looking at my face and all the fat concentrated on my neck looks like I am more like 50 lbs overweight...I already had a chin lipo 2 years ago. Should I get a facelift? Am I too young? my family says I am paranoid..but I see other people with beautiful jawlines specially TV anchors..My eyes are also droopy...What happened to me? How can I look younger? My skin has large pores also..
From the limited pictures you provided I suspect you've had more significant weight fluctuation and possibly extensive sun exposure that has caused loss of skin elasticity and joweling. Also, it appears that you may not have a great facial bone structure with low profile cheeks and chin. Frequently in such cases, I recommend cheek and chin implants which can dramatically improve the volume, contour and projection of the face and bring every thing into better balance. It is important to maintain your weight and undertake routine skin care with adequate sun protection especially since you live in Florida.
I had a facelift 5 years ago. The left side of my face and ear were numb and it was painful to touch the skin. Now most of the numbness has gone away but it feels like there is a pin in my ear poking me over and over again. Slight bump in front of my left ear is very tender to touch and hurts. Now my jaw hurts to open. Is this something that can be corrected?
Your symptom is highly suggestive of a neuroma that has developed over an injured greater auricular nerve, This is the most commonly injured nerve in facelift surgery. Once your doctor evaluates you closely, he/she can identify the exact location of the neuroma and test the theory with an injection of a local analgesic such as lidocaine or marcaine causing immediate relief of the pain. This may be repeated to incrementally improve sysmptoms or possibly your doctor may try an anti-seizure medication such as Gabapentin which has been shown to improve such nerve pain. This is rarely treated surgically but your surgeon would be helpful in the initial conservative treatment approach.
