March 9th 2010, I had smart Lipo my stomach is flat, but the skin didn't tighten well it shows when I sit down. What can I do to tighten my skin upper and lower abs?
Published studies have shown that SlimLipo and SmartLipo laser assisted Liposuction will provide additional skin tightening when compared to non Laser Assisted Liposuction.
However these techniques are very dependent on the skill and experience of the surgeon and must be done properly to gain the best effect of the laser skin tightening.
The process of skin tightening is based on a laser induced inflammation of the tisssues beneath the skin and this process takes at least 6 months for maximum effect-so you need to wait that long to evaluate your results.
The laser induced skin tightening with SlimLipo and Smartlipo cannot adequately tighten sverely loose skin that requires a Tummy Tuck.
THis is a decision that your Surgeon should be able to make. If you have a lot of laxity then you may have been better served by a Tummy Tuck
what if u have slim lipo and the doctor does not suction much fat out what happens to the melted fat that stays behind?
I try to remove all of the liquid dissolved fat after SlimLipo. In fact I often "wash out" the dissolved fat by irrigating with saline solution.
Some liquified or dissolved fat is left behind, it is impossible to remove it all. However the liquid fat does drain out through the incisions which are left open and on occasion I will insert a tiny drain to help remove the dissolved fat.
Dissolved fat and partially damaged fat after SlimLipo continues to be removed by absorption into the body tissues and blood stream, improving the result with time
What are the advantages and disadvantages of general vs. local? I had a mini facelift, blepharoplasty, and lipo on ankles with local-no problem. My surgeon says he will only do Smart Lipo with general, idea of general is scary to me.
The decision whether to use local or General Anesthesia during SlimLipo, SmartLipo, Vaser Lipo or any form of Liposuction is based on your comfort.
Your surgeon evaluates the amount of work to be done and the amount of discomfort that you will experience.
It is true that a more thorough complete Liposuction can be done under General Anesthesia. Under local anesthesia as fat and the local anesthetic are removed by suctioning you can experience more discomfort.
SlimLipo, SmartLipo, Coolipo, Vaser Lipo and Ultrasound assisted Liposuction all add heat to dissolve the Fat.
The additional heat, while very beneficial for fat removal and skin tightening can cause discomfort that is not well controlled by local anesthesia.
If you are healthy and in a hospital or facility that has board certified Anesthesiologists, modern General Anesthesia is safe.
