I am 34 years old. I am 5'6" and 140 pounds. I had two c-sections and have loose skin on my stomach. I would like to have surgery, but I don't want to be asleep.
Can a tummy tuck surgery be done with local anesthesia? If not, is there any other surgery that only requires local anesthesia that can get rid of the loose skin and give me a flat, sexy stomach?
most surgeons perform abdominoplasty under general anesthesia. the main reason for this is that in a typical tummy tuck, the muscles of the abdomen are tightened. it is difficult to fully anesthetize this deep layer without the assistance of general anesthesia.
some limited or mini abdominoplasty procedures can be performed in the office in combination with liposuction under local anesthesia.
I had a mini Tummy Tuck 3 weeks ago, and the doctor cut out the fat instead of liposuctioning it. I was wondering, does it matter how he took out the fat?
a mini tummy tuck is best when the loose skin is primarily in the lower abdomen, below the belly button. the scars can be limited to scars within the bikini line. liposuction can be combined with a mini tummy tuck to nicely contour the lower abdomen. the other advantage to a mini tummy tuck vs liposucion alone is that the muscles of the abdomen can be tightened if necessary with a mini tummy tuck.
How do I know if a tummy tuck is a good option for me?
As i offer smart liposuction as an office based laser liposuction procedure, i often see women who desire abdominal rejuvenation after pregnancy. whether or not a patient is a better candidate for abdominoplasty, liposuction alone, or possibly a mini-abdominoplasty has to do with many factors. skin quality, desired final outcome, abdominal muscle weakness and the balance between the scars expected for an abdominoplasty (usually hip to hip) and the improved general outcome are some of the factors that have to be evaluated. i think many non-plastic surgeons who perform laser liposuction but not abdominoplasty leave a deflated but not tightened abdomen which in my opinion is very suboptimal.
