I have a bald patch above my ear and slightly in front of each. Its like the sideburn is higher and almost gone. I had a very weak hairline before my facelift. The other side is fine. What can be done to rectify this?
After a facelift, but usually the second or third one, the scars can become noticeable and the hairline can be pulled back so much that it doesn't look right. Hair transplants are fantastic for this! They cover up the scars very nicely and can actually advance a hairline that's been pulled back too far. The entire hair transplant procedure takes about 5 hours, and can be done entirely under local anesthesia only.
What kind of side effects are possible with hair transplant surgery? Could your real hair end up falling out?
Common side effects from a hair transplant include swelling, pain, numbness, itching, and local infections. However, these are usually only temporary and not very severe. In fact, a hair transplant is considered a "minor outpatient procedure." One very rare complication is total alopecia of your head when all of your hair falls out. This is so rare, in fact, that when it does happen it's usually a reportable case. All in all, a hair transplant is a safe procedure that can be done entirely with local anesthsia.
How long do I have to wait before I can get hair transplant over a recently excised 0.6 cm pox scar in my cheek, in an attempt to cover the scar?
I would recommend waiting at least 6 weeks after your pox excision. This will allow the scar to heal and mature to pretty much its full strength. Also, if any infection would occur, the 2-4 week window is the usual time period for this. Hair transplants are great for scars, beards, and moustaches. So, barring any infection and wound healing problems, you should get a good result. Good luck!
