6 months ago I had a scar revision for a scar on lower eyelid. The tissue connecting the lower and upper eyelids on the outer corner of my eye stretched too much as a result of the poorly performed surgery resulting in a pulled down lower eyelid. I now need someone who can lift up my lower eyelid AND at the same time remove the scar (4-5mm wide, 2cm long) from my lower eyelid. Is this something that can be done? If yes, who is the BEST for this procedure in the NYC area? Don't hesitate to recommend yourself too.
Hello - Yes, both procedure may be able to be performed at the same time. However, it's difficult to say exactly what needs to be done without actually examining you. Support for the lower eyelid may need to be augmented with either a midface lift or actually securing the lower eyelid to the bone around your eye.
Both of my eyelids droop. But the insurer only authorized surgery on one (the left). They said the right wasnt bad enough. What problems could result if surgery is only performed on one of the eyelids?
Hello - Performing surgery on only one eyelid may give you asymmetry afterward. It's difficult to say without actually seeing a photo, but it may be to your benefit to pay for the side that insurance is denying.
I have severe ptosis & have severe heart problems. I wanted a facelift to fix everything, but due to my health condition that is not possible - I have heard eyelid surgery can be done with local anethestics and would reduce my risks.
should I see a plastic surgeon or an ophthalmologist who does this surgery? What's going to make me feel better about me appearance and long lasting?
Hello - You're right about the eyelid procedures being done under local anesthesia only, and I would recommend going to a board certified plastic surgeon. The procedure may take 1-2 hours depending on what you'd like done. Also, if you have extensive upper eyelid skin that obstructs your vision you may qualify for insurance to cover this procedure. You'll first need a visual field test that can be done by any eye doctor. Bring the results with you when you visit your plastic surgeon.
