Should I Be Disappointed with my Brachioplasty? 6 weeks ago, I had bilat. brachioplasty w/lipo. I "pinched" my upper arms during my consult, so that my PS could see the aesthetic I desired. But during prep on the morning of the surgery, he insisted that it would look "freakish" to create too thin an upper arm, and I needed "that flare", to look natural. I am 6 weeks post-op, and am 3 inches smaller, around my upper arms. But I detest that "flare" I am told is natural. Can I achieve that thinner look by strength training, and/or losing my last 10 lbs?
A: it may take time for the skin to tighten after liposuction

Since it's only been 6 weeks, you may still be a little swollen and the tissues haven't had enough time to "sink in" after your surgery.  Typically, it may take 6 months or so for all of the swelling to resolve and for the tissue to settle.  it will help to continue your exercises, and after several more months go back to your plastic surgeon for a follow-up.  If you need a little touch-up to remove some excess skin, I'm sure he or she will be happy to do this.

Recovery After Arm Lift and Full Tummy Tuck

I am due to have an arm lift and full tummy tuck (both horizontal scar and vertical) with a little lypo, after loosing 148lb. what will my recovery be and mobility after the procedure is done?

A: Recovery after an arm lift and a tummy tuck is about 6 weeks

Hello - Recovery from these procedures takes about 2 weeks from work and 6 weeks from working out.  I typically remove the dressings at 1 week, and you may have drains that will be in for about 1-2 weeks.  Driving can usually be resumed at 1-2 weeks depending on how you do.  Also, pain is well controlled with oral pain medicine.  Good luck!

Arm Lift Recovery

I'm thinking about an arm lift and just wondering what to expect. What's the recovery like after the arm lift? What can I expect in terms of downtime and scarring?

A: All about bracioplasty (arm surgery)

Brachioplasty is a great procedure to remove the excess skin and fat from the arms as well as make them look more trim and thinner. The procedure can be done alone as an outpatient or combined with other procedures as a brief overnight stay in the hospital. The scar is the only downside as it extends from the elbow to the armpit, but with good scar therapy you can minimize the scarring. For recovery, I would recommend a week for work and exercise. Then, return gradually and the pain is also well controlled with oral pain medication. Good luck!
