How Many Men Get Thick Red Scars After Male Breast Reduction?

What is the risk of hypertrophic scars arising over the skin after a male breast reduction surgery? Obviously, I'd rather not have visible scarring.

A: Scars after gynecomastia surgery

The risk of a bad scar from gynecomastia surgery is very low. it would really be the same risk as any other surgery you would have. If you have a tendency to form thick scars already than I would be more concerned. Gynecomastia surgery would not increase the risk.

Normal After Gynocomastia To Have Hardness Under Nipple?

Hello, i had gyno surgery. i'm six weeks post op and on my right nipple there is a hardness directly under it and around it where hte tissue is extremely firm is this normal or should i consult my surgeon?

A: Hardness beneath the nipple after gynecomastia surgery

It's pretty normal to have an area beneath the nipple get hard, especially at the time you are. For the first 6 weeks, scar tissue forms which gets hard. During the next 6 weeks this generally gets softer and more flat. Continue to massage. Also, check with your surgeon, sometimes a steroid injection can be used.

What Do I Need to Do Before I Get Male Breast Reduction Surgery?

Are there diet restrictions or suggestions that I should be aware of in the weeks leading up to male breast reduction surgery? Are there any exercises that I should or shouldn't do?

A: Preparing for male breast reduction surgery

Before any kind of surgery I recommend a well balanced high protein diet, multivitamins and avoid dehydration. Stop aspirin and similar drugs 2 weeks before surgery. Nothing else particularly special.
