I already have one child, and as i am fairly young, i am not sure if i would want to have more later in life. I just want a mini tummy tuck cuz i'm not that far from my goal weight. I just have alot of stretched sagging skin from the pregnancy. Can i have more children later on if i have a mini tummy tuck now?
The issue with a tummy tuck and pregnancy is that you will restretch the skin and muscles once you get pregnant again. As a rule of thumb in my practice, I prefer to wait until my patient is done having children before recomending a tummy tuck, although on occasion patients will want the full tummy tuck done even though they may be considering additional children. For the patient in between children who absolutely wants improvement from their baseline, a mini-tummy tuck may be a good option. Most likely, after you have your last child, you would want to get a full tummy tuck procedure.
How is it different than a regular tummy tuck?
Everyone wants a small scar, and it would be nice not to have to mess with the umbilicus (belly button). However most women that are bothered enough by their abdomens to be seeking out my help usually are better served with a standard tummy tuck including full muscle tightening and removal of all the intraumbilical skin and fat.
Once in a while, comes along the perfect mini tummy tuck candidate: someone with a c-section pouch, little muscle laxity, possibly with plans for more kids in the future, and a desire not to transpose the umbilicus. In that case, I sometimes will perform a mini tummy tuck (usually with lipo as well). Most of the times, I find I get much superior results with a standard tummy tuck and full muscle plication.
