Lip Augmentation Gave Me a Crooked Smile. What Should I Do?

I had a lip-filler injected above my upper lip last Tuesday, with good results, although my lip sticks out farther on its left side. I had it done to rejuvenate my "smoker-lips". I don't recall what kind of filler my doctor administered, but my lips are still tender from the injection. Will this even out or do I have to go back to her to get the right side filled more? The lines on my lips look better but my smile is crooked. I can't even wear lipstick, as it makes it more obvious.

A: Tincture of Time

Although frustrating, give it more time.  Usually in about 10 days (occasionally longer), inconsistencies in lip volume after Restylane (or Juvederm) lip augmentation work themselves out.  After 10 days, if there is still a prominent difference, I'd advise some very gentle thumb and forefinger massage to the plump area.  This usually works the volume discrepancy out nicely.  The only exception to this is when I see a prominent bruise in the area of the lump.  Bruising usually connotes a small hematoma (collection of blood) that just needs to resolve naturally.  Massaging a hematoma is probably not going to help with product redistrubution.  Good luck!

How to Get Cupid Bow Lips?

How can I get cupid bow lips and what would be the price? Thanks.

A: Fillers or Lip Lift

Hi Kassy

You have a couple of options depending on the shape and definition of your lips. As already suggested, you can have fillers injected into your lips to augment your current lips and your Cupid's bow. Or, if you don't have much shape to your lips/cupids bow, then you may benefit from a Lip Lift or Vermillion Lift operation.

How to Get Full Lips Like Megan Fox?

If you are starting out with a very thin top lip could you still get results like Megan Fox or do you already need a slightly full lip?

I want fuller sexier lips, but I don't want to look like a porn star. Just wanting some professional advice. Thanks.

A: Megan Fox lips

Hi Kimberly,

I'm not sure when the link between full lips and representatives of the adult film industry first arose, but when performed correctly, you should NOT look like anything other than yourself with fuller lips.

Megan Fox has indeed been blessed with full lips, and it is possible that she has had some additional help in that area. Given her rise to stardom, her sultry look appears to appeal to the masses, and I hear much more in the office about Ms. Fox's lips these days than Angelina Jolie's.

But you are correct: overly full lips look strange and unnatural, and should be avoided. If you stick with a hyaluronic acid gel (e.g. Restylane) or fat injections, and go to an experienced cosmetic provider who enjoys the art of lip enhancement and can explain what option may be best for you, you should be exquisitely pleased with your results!
