Mini Tummy Tuck for Hourglass Shape?

In all pictures that I've seen taken after a tummy tuck is performed, the tummy shape doesn't look pretty to me. I've been told twice to get the flatness I want I would benefit from a mini tummy tuck. I'm nervous because I want that pretty hourglass shape that I never see in a tummy tuck end result picture. Is it not possible? P.s. I'm 28 with no kids and don't plan to have any.

A: Tummy Tucks don't really provide an "Hour Glass" shape

Tummy tucks are performed to remove excess skin.  They really don't give that "Hour Glass" shape that you are seeking.  They tighten skin, and muscles if needed and flatten the abdomen.  It is Liposuction that improves your shape.  Liposuction is performed to remove excess fat from under your skin and improve your shape. But for the best liposuction results you need to have tight skin.  So if your skin is loose, wrinkled, stretch marked, or if you have rolls of excess skin, I usually recommend having a tummy tuck at the same time to achieve that hour glass shape
Good Luck

Will a Mini Tummy Tuck Hold Up?

I am considering a mini tuck with more plications but will it hold up?

A: Do Mini Tummy Tucks last?

If you are one of the few women for whom a Mini Tummy Tuck is the best procedure, then the results should "hold up" as long as you don't get pregnant or gain and lose a lot of weight. Tummy tucks, Full or Mini are "Restorative" procedures. They are done to correct loose skin which is left over from pregnancy or weight gain and loss. Whichever one is the best procedure for you is what you should have done. They both should last you equally long.

Avelar Technique Mini Tummy Tuck Vs. Traditional Mini Tuck

I can you please tell me the difference between these. I have had 3 babies in 4 years....18 years ago. I am 110 lbs 5'tall. I'm about 6 lbs more than I like to be but I'm 50 now. My skin is wrinkly & lax I can easily grab a hand full of skin? or fat? especially below belly button. No stretch marks & I think my muscles aren't too bad I've pretty much always exercised. I worry about the scar from surgery. Thanks

A: Avelar technique has less undermining of the skin

The Avelar technique was developed about 20 years ago by Dr Juarez Avelar. It was developed at a time when there was great concern about performing tummy tucks and abdominoplasty at the same time. It is now a very common thing to do as we understand the blood supply to the skin of the abdomen much better now.

I think that most plastic surgeons who perform liposuction and abdominoplasty at the same time today are all performing a much more modern variation of what he began back in 1990 by using the knowledge and experience that has been gained since that time. The main difference is in the amount of undermining and amount of skin removed.

As far as a mini vs a full. I would choose an experienced Plastic Surgeon who you trust to help decide which is best for you
