How Do I Fins Doctors Best Qualified for Masseter Botox?

I'm really interested in Botox for masseter hypertrophy. As far as I know, I'm a candidate for this procedure (meeting with a doctor will confirm this, obviously). So, in finding a doctor: Is any doctor who can administer Botox for wrinkles capable of injecting it into the masseter? Or should the doctor perform the procedure on a regular basis? How many masseter injections is a good number? Thanks!

A: Botox can be used for masseter hypertrophy to shape the jawline

Botox injection ot the masseter is a very nice procedure for patients who have muscle enlargement and want to shape their jawline. This is seen often in the Asian population. Not all facial injectors are familiar with the technique of masseter injection, however. Your best bet is to call physician's offices and make sure the physician is the one injecting you. (I am a full beleiver in nurse injectors, but I feel this is an advanced technique and you should see a physician for this.) You will find that after injection, it may tke 4-6 weeks to notice the results. You may also need to return for a boost if you have not had an adequate response. When done correctly, there is little risk to the procedure.

Which Do You Think is Better to Combat the Dreaded Frown Line...botox or Juvederm?

I am going to have either or done next week for my frown line between my eyes. I can't stand it! I had a conservative amount of Botox done for this last year and it worked fine, but I still was able to see a faint line still. Do you think that getting Juvederm this time around would be a better option, or should I just ask for more Botox?

A: Frown Line Treatment Options

Most plastic surgeons and dermatologist will recommend Botox as first line treatment for frown lines. Fine wrinkles or faint lines may still be visible after Botox treatment. These wrinkles or lines may then be possibly  treated with a facial filler, skin care, or laser resurfacing.

Only after a comprehensive evaluation can a specialist help determine appropriate options for you. Best of luck.

Botox to the Glabella Caused Under Eye Bags, Is This Normal? What Can I Do? (photo)

I had 8 units of Botox to the upper forehead a week ago. I went back because a still had a few lines above my brows. The doctor said i needed to have my glabella done to support the forehead. So she injected 8 units into the glabella. The next morning my eyes were swollen and I have HUGE bags under my eyes, that were NEVER there before. This was my very first botox experience and I'm worried sick that these bags won't go away. Is this common, is there anything I can do?

A: Under Eye Swelling after Botox

Botox treatment is commonly given in the forehead or glabella (in between eyebrow area) to help soften and improve facial wrinkles. The aesthetic benefit of Botox develops over a few days and last for several months.

However, this cosmetic treatment can result in brief bruising and swelling, which typically resolves within a day. Usually these temporary side effects are in the immediate area of injection. However, some bruising or swelling could possibly develop areas not directly treated by Botox.

The under eye bag swelling after Botox treatment is more likely unrelated to forehead or glabellar treatments. However, only after a comprehensive evaluation can a specialist help determine appropriate options for you. If you haven't already, then speak with your Botox provider. Best of luck.
