“My Invisalign Journey - Rockville, MD”
I've been interested in Invisalign for a while... I had braces in elementary school through high school and stopped wearing my retainer (got braces in 4th grade, got them off in 5th because I still had some baby teeth that needed to come out, then got them back on from 6th grade to 9th grade?) Combine that with still having my wisdom teeth (got them removed in December), and you get teeth that... more
“Involuntary Invisalign Customer -...”
I'm undergoing this procedure because my dentist says I need to in order to deal with the wearing down of the backs of my upper front teeth. About ten years ago, my dentist addressed this problem by adding composite to the worn-down areas, but now the composite apparently has worn down. I'm pretty angry about having to go through this: - I don't think I've gotten a clear explanation as to... more
“Just Starting my Treatment! - Silver...”
Hi, I'm Maria and I'm 25. I have always had a gap in my front teeth and some crowding in the bottom but I learned to love my teeth and never wanted to go though wire braces I really hate the look, but this year I decided to do something about it IF my insurance covered it and it did!!! I asked my doctor about Invisalign and she recommended it. I will be in the treatment for 6 months with... more
I have braces 20 years ago but was never happy with the results. My teeth have moved spaces out more and I still have an over bite. I'm on the express plan with an option to go to the full line if I don't get the results the clincheck promised. I paid about 3500 but my insurance chipped in another 2k. I find my mouth gets real dry and the first few days of an aligner are snug. I'm hoping for... more
“Sorry Mom and Dad! - Woodbridge, MA”
I feel badly that my parents had to spend money on braces as a kid, however, Im sure my teeth would be in much worse shape if I had not received them as a kid. I always had spacing in upper teeth and my bottom teeth were virtually perfect, but as time went on, there was a slight overlap on one tooth on the bottom. Anyways, the spacing came back over time after not using a retainer and I became... more
“Not So Sure Yet - Upper Marlboro, MD”
I was really excited to start with the trays. Was NOT expecting the "buttons" and filing though. I hate the "buttons"! they scratch the inside of my mouth when the trays are out and it looks like some nasty build up on my teeth. My bite is totally off now. I can't really chew foods so I feel like I'm almost mashing food against the roof of my mouth with my tongue... more
“Dentist Filed a Space in Between my...”
I am very happy with my invisalign treatment. I am now on my first refinement tray but my dentist took an electric filing device in between my front lowers and now where there never were spaces before, there is an ugly space in between my front lowers!! It looks aweful!the dentist said that they needed the space but I'm not understanding this! has this happened to anyone else! and will the... more
“So Far So Good - Washington, DC”
Before I got invisalign I did a two year research about braces and invisalign. It started when I got my 4 wisdom teeth removed on march 2010. Then I had one porcelain crown placed. And did whitening with zoom. Then dedicated myself 6 months to look for the best dentist to put me on invisalign. I met with 3 dentists and 8 orthodontists the good thing is that they all offered free... more
“Recently Started Treatment; So Far,...”
I couldn't fathom the idea of traditional metal braces at my age (47). I have always had problems with crowding on the bottom, flossing has always been less than pleasant and food routinely gets stuck. My dentist has asked on occasion if I considered braces. I first learned about Invisalign when my older children were in traditional braces and frequently see the dentist advertising... more
Invisalign is like cheating with straightening your teeth. Believe me, I know. I had braces as a teen-ager - bands around every single tooth. My teeth shifted over time, and I was not extremely happy with the original outcome. Invisalign is so much more gentle, and in the right Dr's hands, you can get amazing results. I researched quite a bit and I know that a lot of doctors dabble in... more
“So Far, So Good - Washington, DC”
Started treatment on bottom teeth only, felt movement day one. Had to take advil first few days but after that it was fine. No one can tell that I am wearing them. I am impressed that I had such noticeable change in such a short period of time. more
“Awesome! Almost at the End of my...”
Unfortunately, heredity has given me a very tiny jaw with large, Irish teeth. In an effort to minimize some of the problems, my parents (on the advice of multiple doctors) had all of my front baby teeth pulled out when I was about 7. This resulted in the unchecked decent of my top adult teeth, which eventually covered my bottom teeth completely. These upper front teeth descended so far that... more
“Awful - Entire Jaw Structure Changed”
Its arguable whether or not my teeth look straighter. An arch was formed with my teeth, but my entire jaw structure was changed. My mouth feels extremely wide, like it is being pulled open from both sides. My entire jaw structure and face structure has changed. I barely recognize myself. My jaws have popped and moved for years. My jaws overall hurts like crazy and my mouth just feels WEIRD... more
“Entirely Pleased with the Invisalign...”
At the outset, my dentist estimated my total Invisalign process would be approximately 1 year; however, at 10 months I'm at the end. I had a top over-bite and crowding on the bottom that needed correcting. My program entailed 17 trays for the top and 21 trays for the bottom. I did endure a constant dull head ache throughout the process but taking a couple tylenol prior to switching out the... more
“Didn't Want Braces; Worried I Was...”
I have crowded teeth on bottom row,and didn't want braces and iron wire running across my mouth. I wanted a better smile and teeth. I have like vampire teeth on the bottom and I hate it.I wanted to know if I was overcharged for invisalign. I just them put in on yesterday. I was told I have the comprehensive package, which mean I can get 2 additional refining trays, if my teeth are... more
“New Invisalign Patient -- Have Questions”
I've only had my first tray in for a couple of days and so far it's fine, though still a little painful and I'm still having trouble removing the lower tray. I guess that will just get easier with time.I know, of course, that you can't eat with the trays in, but what about drinking coffee/soda, maybe even red wine. My ortho's assistant said I could drink coffee, but clearly the official stance... more
“Just Started Invisalign -...”
My actual cost after my insurance is about $3,200 and I'm using my health flex plan to pay for that (not due all at once but over the course of the treatment).I have 13 trays and the orthodontist said it would be about a year and a half but with 3 weeks a tray, I'm not sure how that is possible. The receptionist told me that it really depends on how my teeth shift and whether or not I'm... more
This is best invention in dental history. As an adult, I can not see myself wearing metal braces for years. With Invisalign, I could maintain my regular lifestyle and image. Truly worth it. Specailly at the price that I got it for. I qualify for express case and under $3K it was a steal....every where else it was for $5k-6500! Contact me if you need more information on my experience... more
I received invisalign on Feb. 1, 2008 and I am on set 12 of 14 trays at the moment. I had a ton of spacing and a huge gap which is virtually gone. I had pain on the first day of each new set, but I took extra strength tylenol before putting on my new set which helps!! I also wear them as recommended, around 20 hours a day and only taking them off for meals. I have had such success and quick... more
“Invisalign - Love It but I Don't...”
I have had a good experience regarding some teeth I wanted moved. Two things that bother me. I previously had receding gums due to overbrushing. It had never been a problem and I made sure I had the recommended electric toothbrush. Now, my gums have receded to a painful state in the position where some of the buttons are placed. The other is that my top and bottom teeth do not match up. ... more
I was considered a "partial" case, meaning that I only needed 9 aligners (most take the full 18). I travel a lot and only had to check in with my dentist once during the process. I am very happy that I have straight teeth and a very natural looking smile. One has to be serious about using an at-home product vs. regular braces, because skipping a night is really noticable and your... more
