Can Silicone Breast Shots Make Breasts Dense?

I was 17, and this "doctor" was giving these silicone shots in a hotel and my girlfriends and I went and had the shots done.Since then my mammograms have shown my breasts to be very dense, and they are cystic I'm told. How do I know if they are 'cystic' or otherwise? Is silcone removal in the breast very difficult? What is the the safest option?

A: Silicone injection to the Breast

Silicone should not be directly injected into the breast (or the face). After it is, it penetrates into the breast tissue and the only way to remove it is through removal of the breast tissue. I saw a patient with this years ago, and she was having intermittent flares of inflammation and infection, necessitating partial breast removal. If enough tissue is removed, reconstruction would be necessary.

I'm sorry to tell you but that was a very bad thing you did. Silicone injections were originally done in Japan in the '30s. There is nothing good about them and generally leads to problems at some point. There is not any easy way to get it out. Individual lumps might be able to be drained with a needle. You might need antibiotics if they become red. The person who did this should be reported to the authorities. Use your social media skills to get the word out. Put this guy out of business.

Removing Silicone Breast Injections and Get Implants After?

I had Silicone breast injections 7 years ago. Now, I can feel lumps on both sides but without pain. I  never also have not had (thankfully) deformity or whatsoever. I would like to remove the injected liquid and get a Breast implants after, is that possible? I have had several ultrasounds and my doctor said it's nothing, but I didn't infrom her about the procedure I had. I also recently consulted a cosmetic surgeon here and was denied for the procedure. I need help, I need a doctor who can help me.

A: First things first

Before committing to any course of action:

1. Get an MRI to show the extent and distribution of the injected silicon. That will dictate what kind of excision surgery will be needed.

2. Get more than one opinion from Board certified surgeons from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (go to www.plasticsurgery.org for listings of surgeons near you)
