Concerns with Chin Liposuction

I am 29, athletic, but have always had untoned skin and fat under my chin and around my jawline and am considering smart lipo. I am very concerned about bad skin tone and ropy/uneven appearance since its my face!

What type/grade of machine should I be looking for in a doctor's office to ensure best results? Also any suggestions on areas of the jaw/chin/jowls I should include? I don't want to overdo it, but mostly feel I don't have the info I need to self-advocate during consultation. Thx!

A: Chin and upper neck liposuction Based on your photo, you would be a great candidate for traditional liposuction, which is quick and economical under local anesthesia. If performed with appropriate technique and equipment by an experienced practitioner, the chances of irregularities are extremely small if not zero. I am not so sure Smartlipo or any other highly commercialized or laser assisted liposuction would give you any better result, only more cost. Good luck!

Will Weight Loss and Gain After Neck Lipo Affect the Results?

How does weight loss and gain after neck lipo affect the results? For instance, I lose 10-12 pounds during the summer for beach time and during the winter I gain the ten pounds back.

A: Weight loss and gain may affect your cosmetic surgery results

Hello - The fluctuations in your weight may stretch the skin in your neck to the point that it may begin to sag. Therefore, I would recommend trying to stay at the same weight if possible. Otherwise, when the skin doesn't retract back after liposuction you may need a lift sometime down the line.

How Long Will I Take to Heal from Chin/jawline Liposuction?

I am having the area below my chin and jawline liposuctioned. I am wondering how long will it be until I look pretty normal, and how long will it take until I see my full results? Thank you!

A: Liposuction of the chin and jawline has minimal downtime

Hello - Basically, you can expect about 3-5 days of recovery from liposuction in this area. However, if you tend to bruise easily or you are having a significant amount of liposuction done your recovery may last longer. Good luck!
