Can I Get Cheek Implants After or During a Sculptra Treatment?

Not literally DURING a treatment, but if I decided to initiate one treatment and then a month later decided to go with implants could I do that? Or how long would I have to wait?

A: Cheek implant vs. Sculptra

Both of these treatments provide improved cheek fullness. I have become a fan of Sculptra to provide a natural looking result and nice improvement in cheek fullness. It's like a facelift in a bottle. Cheek implants are tricky and have more risks than Sculptra which is minimally invasive. Cheek implants are permanent and lead to more remarkable results - which is a benefit. There is a risk, however, with scarring and nerve weakness. It seems you should weigh the benefits and risks of Sculptra vs. cheek implants, and choose one. You should not need both. If you decide to do both, provide either treatment the full recovery time necessary before you decide.

Can I Have Cheek Implants While I Have Existing Radiesse?

I have had six 1.5cc syringes of Radiesse injected in my cheeks over the past two years. The last two were injected in October 2011. I would like to have combined malar implant surgery in March 2012. How would the Radiesse affect the implant surgery? Should I wait? If so, how long?

A: cheek implants after filler.

It is best to wait until the filler absorbs before you go ahead.  With the filler present you may wind up picking an implant that is too big or too small.  I usually take photos of my patients and consider surgery when they return to how they looked before the filler.

You should discuss this with your surgeon.  The amount and location of the filler will play into his or her recommendation on timing as well.

Do I Have Plagiocephaly? What Can Be Done to Reduce Forehead and Cheekbone Flatness? (photo)

I'm male, 18, and wondering what can be done about the flatness present on the left side (on the picture) of my face. I have minor muscular torticollis which might have caused minor plagiocephaly. The left side of my forehead and cheekbone area is flat with little to no prominence of features. What can be done to render my forehead symmetrical and my cheekbone area as well? I am considering brow surgery if these areas can be fixed. My eyes are asymmetrical due to differences in orbital position.

A: Plagiocephaly

These conditions are dealt with by a craniofacial surgeon. Consult a plastic surgeon with training in craniofacial surgery at one of the major teaching centers
