Is It Possible That Radiesse Might Cause Hyperthyroidism?

I was injected several months ago and have now been diagnosed with Graves disease. Could the injections have caused this condition?

A: Radiesse and Graves Disease

Graves Disease is an autoimmune disorder which is unrelated to your Radiesse injection.  There are no reports in the literature and logically the 2 events are not related.    The product is injected locally and does not migrate into the bloodstream or to the thyroid gland.  Graves Disease is serious so please get followed closely by a primary care physicain.

Does the Rule of One Syringe Per Client Apply to Radiesse Filler?

Are MA's allowed to use mixing hubs to make full syringes of radiesse from partial used syringes from other clients to then be used on you? I was at a highly reputable medspa today when I asked for my radiesse touch up on my nose. I thought I had a remaining 3/4 of a syringe, but the assistant let it slip that they don't save your original to use on you. I was injected by one of these partially used syringes, should that pose a concern to me? Was it ethical for him to want to charge me more $?

A: Unused Radiesse

Unused Radiesse or any other filler should NEVER be shared between patients and should NEVER be saved.  This is certainly not a reputable place where you are going and you are putting your safety at considerable risk.  Please seek out a Board-certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon in the future who will put you safety first.

Too Much Radiesse Injected into the Chin (Jay Leno Effect)

Yesterday I had radiesse injected into my chin, mainly because I wasnt happy with how my profile looked " nose sticks out farther than the chin" so the dr injected a whole syringe in the chin area, now I feel like my face looks even longer with the pointy chin, and, esp from the profile, the chin looks very cartoonish. Am I still swollen? will it decrease in the next week? if it doesnt is there something that can be done to balance out the chin? "now it looks like i need a chin reduction!

A: Radiesse in the Chin

If you just had you Radiesse injection 1 day ago, there certainly is still some swelling.  The majority of the swelling will be resolved within about 1 week.  If after a week you are still unhappy with the results, unfortunately there is nothing that can be injected to reverse the product that was injected.
