I am currently scheduled to receive liposuction in my outer thighs an flanks at the same time as a BA, next month. My question is, since I seem to put on weight mostly in my thighs/flanks first, and my lower abdominals second, will I regret not also getting my lower abdominals done? I'm worried I will go through all the pain and work of recovery, only to gain my extra pounds strictly in my belly after recovery and still be uncomfortable in my body. Thoughts?
You should discuss this with your plastic surgeon. If your abdomen could stand improvement with liposuction, now would be a good time to do it - to make you look and feel better. You should not pursue liposuction of the abdomen to protect against future weight gain there. There is no data to support that areas that do not undergo liposuction will become heavier if other problem areas are suctioned.
I had about 650cc removed about a 5 days ago from my flanks - aka love handels, and i was woundering how long will it take for me to see the full results? im in my early 30's, good health.
Typically it takes up to 4-6 months to see the true final result. You should see some improvement immediately, and within about 6 weeks you will have a very good idea of where you are. People heal at different rates, resolving swelling and thickness. Talk to your plastic surgeon to check on what he/she expects. Ask when you can start exercising - fitness goes very well with liposuction to get optimal results.
I had liposuction over my saddlebags, abdomen,&outer thighs,& a little over my lower back. It has been 1 wk.I have been wearing the compression garment as instructed & had a small umbilical hernia repaired w 1 small stitch I started walking my dogs soon after the surgery. Nothing strenuous, just 40 min. Is that ok? I know I can't do any strenuous exercise for at least 2 wks I normally jog 4 miles/day, weight train,& spin on a bike. Do you think my swelling will take longer to go down?
Recovery really should hinge on what the plastic surgeon who performed your procedure thinks is necessary. Usually one to two weeks will do the trick and you can get back to your usual routine. That's the beauty of lipo!
