What is the Risk of Disease Transmission when Sharing a Syringe but Switching Needle?
I just recently had 1 syringe of juvederm ultra plus injected into my upper lip for fullness by an RN. Upon using the first syringe she said that I really needed another syringe worth to achieve the desired effect. My best friend came with me and she only used half of her syringe. The Lady who did the injections said I could use the remainder of her syringe but she would switch the needles. Is there a high risk of blood related transmitted diseases by doing this.? It was a very poor decision.
A: Sharing Lip AugmentationThe answer is absolutely NEVER share syringes even if the needle is changed. This is a cosmetic procedure in which you are trying to improve your appearance, why would you risk anything to cause a major problem to arise. The nurse who suggested this to you has medical ethics that should be questioned and in many physicians opinion reported. Your safety and health ALWAYS comes first.
I Have Crow's Feet After Receiving Botox in my Forehead. What Should I Do?
I'm nervous to have more Botox injected, especially to my eyes since I've read much negative about it, including even more exaggerated under-eye crows feet.
A: Botox and Crows FeetBotox and Dysport are wonderful at treating the 'worry lines' in the forehead. Once they are gone some of the other lines on the face may become more noticeable. Many patients will comment they never noticed their crows feet or nasolabial folds until they got their worry lines or frown lines treated. This is most likely the case you are experiencing. You can wait til the effects wear off and see if this the case or you can treat the crows feet with some Botox or Dysport.
The area that we refer to as 'the maionette lines' can be very difficult to treat in some patients. The expectation for some patients is a softening of the lines rather than a complete disappearing of the lines. The results are immediately seen after the injection. Several fillers can work well in this area, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, and Radiesse to name several. Which filler is used depends on several factors, the patient's age, the depth of the wrinkle, etc. If you did not see a change immediately following the procedure you may not have been injected with enough filler.
