I have a chin implant which I'm very unhappy with (a replacement implant isn't an option). I'm considering a sliding genioplasty. However, I don't want to have a longer looking face from the front. Is it possible to perform a sliding genioplasty without adding vertical height to the chin?
Performed correctly a sliding genioplasy can permit projection with out increasing vertical height. A proper consultation with xrays and photos is imperative to determine if one is a candidate for such a procedure.
I have several deep dimples in my chin, and I've heard Botox could get rid of them. What do you think?
Know how the skin of an orange is dimpled? That is what doctors call "orange peel" skin. It responds wonderfully to Botox injections.
As I'm sure you know, Botox relaxes the muscle into which it is injected. There is a paired muscle in the chin, the mentalis muscle, that allows you to wrinkle your chin, and movement can cause the dimpled chin you have noticed. A few units of Botox in the chin will stop the mentalis muscle from contracting and smooth out the chin. My patients LOVE the results.
