What Is Your Opinion On An Umbilical Float to Lower Tummy Tuck Scar? (photo)

Opinions to lower my recent TT scar and lift my still sagging mons further include removal of an inch of skin below scar, extend scar, anchoring sutures, lipo to pubis. One suggestion to maximize how much the scar can be lowered is to release the belly button and lift the skin to just above it. Realself has very opposing views on umbilical floats with regards to a modified or mini TT. What are your opinions on this please if we’re just aiming to lower scar? Thank you for your time.

A: Translocation of the belly button is risky in your case

The position of your scar and belly button is high . We do not have your before pictures to discuss the rational for the high incision placement. Floating the belly button in your case is risky because of the scar around the belly button. The main risk would be necrosis of the belly button. I would suggest to wait a year before seeking belly button translocation.

A: You will get some improvement but not a drastic change

You have a good result post tummy tuck and will continue to improve. You may need some liposuction down the road. The optimal situation would be that you start to lose weight by changing your diet and exercise to improve the tummy tuck result.

Considering Getting Tummy Tuck at Post-Grad Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program in NYC, Is this the Right Route?

I am a 50yr old female considering a Tummy Tuck after 2 c-sections in my 20's my skin below my belly button is sagging. I am in fairly good health,(not on current meds except vitamins) In order not to be in debt at my age, I am considering doing my surgery at a post gradudate cosmetic surgery fellowship pgrm in NYC because it's affordable. However,I am not really sure if this is the route to go. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

A: Residents are supervised by Board Certified plastic surgeons

The resident clinic is essential part of the training for the next generation of plastic surgeon. I do teach residents and staff them for their cosmetic cases. They are supervised before, during and after surgery to make sure they provide proper care. You should ask the residents about the level of supervision at NYC program.
