After having faith in 2 doctors (plastic surgeon and ENT) who performed a septoplasty to fix my nose (deviated septum/breathing problems), and having it fail... I am wondering if there are any listings out there, or specific surgeons highly regarded as being at the top of the field performing septoplasty. Where/how might I be able to find such info? If I am going to try this again I want to be in the best hands, & will travel to do so.
It is likely that your nasal obstruction may not be due to a deviated septum. You need to be evaluated by a Facial Plastic Surgeon to determine the exact cause of your nasal obstruction. Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons are the experts at functional and cosmetic nasal surgery. You may find a Board Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Warmest regards, Dr. Pippin.
I had a Septoplasty 4 months ago & was breathing/sleeping great for the 1st time in @ 10 yrs. I broke my nose in two spots in the past, as a result it was slightly crooked, not too obvious, but breathing/sleeping were horrible. Hoping to finally fix the problem I met with a plastic surgeon who said I had a deviated septum and that he and an ENT would do the surgery. @ 2 weeks ago one nostril shut down again. Reasons, options-any info/ advise please... It would be so appreciated!
I would advise returning to your surgeons for evaluation. It sounds like you may be having some normal post operative swelling. You could also be having some nasal valve collapse or the septum may have dislocated to one side. If your nasal valve is collapesed or if your septum has dislocated, you will require revision surgery. I would not consider this for some time. I would recommend a surgeon who is comfortable with performing both a rhinoplasty and septoplasty, as the two surgeries are inseperable. Rhinoplasty is a very complicated surgery and requires extensive training. I would suggest seeing a Facial Plastic Surgeon if you require revision surgery, as they have the most extensive training regarding rhinoplasty. Warmest regards, Dr. Pippin.
i had a septoplasty to mix my deviated septum two weeks ago, after 10 days , the doctor took the stiches out which were black colored i think but i found some clear plastic strings tied inside the walls of the nose (where the hair grows) is that normal ?? or did he for got to take them out cuz the were not even close to incision area
These likely represent absorbable sutures that were used during your surgery. It is not uncommon for the to start "falling out" 7-10 days after surgery. If you have any concerns, please consult with your surgeon.
