I recently broke my nose and had to get surgery to fix it but my cartilage needs to be reconstructed so I have been referred to a cosmetic surgeon. Am I able to get a free nose job if I have already been referred to one? Will he shave down parts of my nose I dislike?
I am assuming that you mean will you insurance cover the costs of the procedure. Insurance in general will cover some of the costs, however they will not generally cover cosmetic portions of the procedure. You need to check with you insurance carrier prior to the surgery to see if it would be covered. It is unlikely that they would cover the removal of the nasal bump. Make appointments for consultations with multiple surgeons. Look at lots of before and after photos. Board certification by The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, The American Board of Otolaryngology or The American Board of Plastic Surgery is preferred. Warmest regards.

A year and half ago I got mugged in Albany and I was left with a broken jaw and nose. My plastic surgeon treated the jaw first because it was of more importance. My nose was not realigned because I wouldn't have been able to breathe. As time has passed though I have found it very hard to breathe and extremely frustrating. I went to the ENT and was proscribed Flonase which doesn't really help. It's little crooked, I'm not sure whether to have just Septoplasty or Rhinoplasty with it.
It is difficult to tell from the photo provided, but it appears you have a very narrow nose with internal valve collapse and would benefit from a more complete operation. Do you have cosmetic concerns? If you do I would recommend having functional and cosmetic surgery at the same time. Obviously you need a complete exam by a competent surgeon. I have always hated the tip of my nose. The bridge is a little wide and has a bit of a bump, but I would be satisfied with just a reduction in the tip. It's very wide and bulbous. It looks fine from the profile view, but front on it's very.. unattractive. Is there a way to have it reduced without too drastic of a change? I do not want a narrow, pinched look. It also tends to swell in cold, heat, or with allergies. Are there nonsurgical options too?
You very beautiful facial features and tip rhinoplasty will help. There is no non-surgical treatment since you need reduction. Computer morphing will help to plan your surgery .
