Is Botox ok for lip plumping? I want fuller lips and I've heard the most about Botox.
You would be best to be treated with a Hyaluronic Acid filler such as Juvederm or Restylane. These are our best tools for fuller, plumper lips. Botox is NOT a treatment for fuller lips. Botox relaxes muscles, it does not "fill". Around the mouth we often use Botox to soften the "smoker's" lines, but not as a lip filler.
on CBS today was a dermatologist Dr. Colbert who created his own lip plumping technique he called Colbert Lips. Colbert outlines the vermillion border with hyaluronic acid injections of Restylane or Juvaderm. What technique do you think gives the most natural looking lips that don't get the duck bill appearance -- like you see all over the Housewives of Orange County!
Using HA fillers to line the lips is hardly new. In fact, one of the surest ways to get the duck bill look is to inject ONLY in the vermillion border, and not naturally volumize the lips themselves and balance the peri-oral area with some filler to the nasolabial fold and marionette as needed. Finally, the lips should never be over injected. They should be defined and shaped. Calling lip injections a new name means nothing. Ask to see photographs of the doctor's work and ask questions about their qualifications. I assure you there is no trick or gimmicky names to get pretty and natural results.
