Is Juvederm Safe for Insulin Dependent Diabetes?

my mother and I are both scheduled for juvederm. I am worried about her having reactions to it. The Doctor said she should be fine but I'm still worried. Should I be worried for her?

A: Juvederm Safe in Diabetes

Juvederm is safe in Diabetes and there is no contra-indication to its use.  Juvederm is made of Hyaluronic Acid, a natural component of your skin, that binds and holds water.  It has been modified to remain in the skin longer than natural Hyaluronic Acid, but appears just as safe and inert as what is naturally made by your own body.  You should have no problems with Juvederm, and if injected properly by a physician who is Board Certified in an accepted aesthetic field, such as Dermatology or Plastic Surgery, you should have great, long lasting results.

Is Voluma (By Juvederm) FDA Approved Yet? If Not, Why Not? What Could Be the Concerns?

Is Voluma (By Juvederm) FDA Approved Yet? If Not, Why Not? What Could Be the Concerns?

A: Juvederm Voluma is still in extensive clinical trials for the FDA.

The study is a large, 2 year study to evaluate results and safety. I have heard many positive things about both the results adn the safety data. The FDA does its best to make sure fillers are safe before they come into the market place. I would anticipate next year, but there is never any firm timetable from the FDA. It is supposed to be a game chager for cheek volume restoration.

No Results with Juvederm, Does it Take a Few Days to Set In?

I had 1 syringe of Juvederm done to my smile lines yesterday. I am a 34 yo with very subtle smile lines. When I came home I found out that the injections were done right into a line on one side (where I developed a hard pea sized lump) and quarter of an inch OFF(!)the smile line on the other side (where there is no improvement at all). Overall there isn't any improvement to my lines. My smile looks uneven. Is it normal? Will the filler "set" within the next few days?

A: The Juvederm results you describe are not typical for wrinkles

It often will take more than one syringe of Juvederm to get complete resolution of the lines and folds by the mouth. On average, 2 syringes are needed. The lump you describe could be swelling, but could be over injection in one spot and needs correction. The fact that you think the Juvederm was not injected into the right place is worrisome. I would go back and see the doctor so he/she can correct any problems. If the doctor can't or won't, then find a different doctor with more experience.
