Can I Get a Nose Job for Free if I Have Been Referred to by a Doctor for my Nose?

I recently broke my nose and had to get surgery to fix it but my cartilage needs to be reconstructed so I have been referred to a cosmetic surgeon. Am I able to get a free nose job if I have already been referred to one? Will he shave down parts of my nose I dislike?

A: You will be responsible for services rendered

I am assuming that you mean will you insurance cover the costs of the procedure.  Insurance in general will cover some of the costs, however they will not generally cover cosmetic portions of the procedure.  You need to check with you insurance carrier prior to the surgery to see if it would be covered.  It is unlikely that they would cover the removal of the nasal bump.  Make appointments for consultations with multiple surgeons. Look at lots of before and after photos. Board certification by The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, The American Board of Otolaryngology or The American Board of Plastic Surgery is preferred. Warmest regards.

I'm Not Sure What to Do For My Breathing Problems- Septoplasty or Rhinoplasty?

A year and half ago I got mugged in Albany and I was left with a broken jaw and nose. My plastic surgeon treated the jaw first because it was of more importance. My nose was not realigned because I wouldn't have been able to breathe. As time has passed though I have found it very hard to breathe and extremely frustrating. I went to the ENT and was proscribed Flonase which doesn't really help. It's little crooked, I'm not sure whether to have just Septoplasty or Rhinoplasty with it.

A: Rhinoplasty is probably the better option

It is difficult to tell from the photo provided, but it appears you have a very narrow nose with internal valve collapse and would benefit from a more complete operation.  Do you have cosmetic concerns?  If you do I would recommend having functional and cosmetic surgery at the same time.  Obviously you need a complete exam by a competent surgeon.

Is it Difficult to Remove/Trim a Rhinoplasty Graft?

I had revision rhino with rib grafts.. now i think my nose is too large... so would it be "Easy" to remove/trim the grafts? can it be done under local? or is it a difficult procedure to trim/remove to modify the nose and make it smaller? how complex is graft trimming/removal (rib grafts)

A: I would recommend waiting a minimum of one year for any revision procedure

It is difficult to make any suggestions without examining you or seeing photographsy.  I would recommend waiting a minimum of one year following you initial procedure for any revision.  Have you let your surgeon know about your concerns.  If you are not satisfied seek a second opinion.
