I'm considering a tummy tuck with liposuction. I read the results of a study that the fat cells redistribute after such procedures. My question is do these procedures make weight loss more difficult after surgery? Is there a correlation to the weight of the fat cells removed and weight gain after surgery? What is the optimum bmi of body fat procedure for a tummy tuck? Can Is it possible to achieve optimum results from a tummy tuck with out liposuction of areas such as the flanks?
Fat cells which are removed with either liposuction or a tummy tuck do not regenerate. It is generally accepted that no new fat cells form after puberty. The fat cells remaining can expand or contract with weight gain or loss. The fat which is added should be more proportional than before surgery.
I am a healthy 30 year old with no significant medical history. I am hoping to have a Breast Augmentation (with 375cc Silicone implants) and liposuction of the hips, inner & outer thighs, & knees (about 5 Liters worth). Is it safe to do it all in one procedure or is it better to split it up? My PS said it would be done under general and we could do it all at once, which is my hope. Also, what type of recovery should I expect. I have a 3 year old & 6 year old at home. Thanks for your help!
Removal of the volume of fat you mentioned from your hips, thighs, and knees is a rather large volume of aspirate which does increase the chances of complications. An augmentation would add additional anesthetic time to your procedure. As with any surgery, you must weigh the benefits and risks to determine what you should do.
I can't afford both and don't know which one I should try. I've had one in person consultation and he suggested lipo & tt but I don't know if he's just trying to do more to make more. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Although an exam would be necessary, it appears from your photos that you are a good candidate for a full tummy tuck. This would remove most of the stretch marks on your lower abdomen and generally tighten your abdomen. Liposuction would not improve the stretch marks and might actually make them appear worse.
