In considering different procedures like - eyelid fix (hood), facelift, breast enhancement and liposcution. Is it better to find one surgeon or should you seek out a specialist in each area. Is it really possible that one surgeon be expert in many diverse procedures?
All board-certified plastic surgeons are well-trained in all of the procedures that you mrntioned. I would echo that you should make certain that the board cerification is in plastic surgery. Menbers of the Amer. Soc. of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons have a special interest in cosmetic procedures and must be certified by the ABPS, but all board certified plastic surgeons, again, have the expertise to perform the procedures in which you are interested.
What Age is Recommended for a Chin and Jowl Lift and at what age is a facelift recommnded for a chin and frown line lift?
I'm 43 years old and and about 5'8" and pretty slender. This is definitely a heriditary issue, Are there any dr.'s that are good but also not as expensive? I read somwhere that the sagging neck lift works better when you get older, but I have quite an insecurity about this now.
Any advice would be truly appreciated.I've always felt un attractive and was tormented by kids in school. Please. advice would really help, and again...finances are an issue, so what would be the best option for me? Thank you, Deenie
There is no perfect time for a person to consider scheduling an elective procedure for something like a facelift or eyelid surgery or skin improvement. While 25 years old would be considered a premature age for a procedure such as facelift, it would not be too soon for liposuction for excessive neck fullness due to excess fatty tissue. And 85 years old would be considered to be a bit beyond the age for a facelift, but still could be a great age for other less invasive procedures designed to help that person feel better about their appearance. In both cases, young and old, the goal is to help that person feel better about the way they look.
There are advantages to putting off a procedure. But there are disadvantages, too. The only way to benefit from a procedure is to actually do it! Only then can one enjoy the benefits. Dr Szachowicz made a valuable point that after a facelift has been performed on them, most patients report that they wished they had done it sooner.
Age is one factor but so are other factors such as: "Am I at a point in my life that looking better, fresher, more rested, (younger) would be really important to me?"
Meeting with a qualified aesthetic surgeon is the first step in helping evaluate the pros and cons of facial rejuvenation and then making the wisest "well timed" decision!
I'm considering a brow and facelift. How long will the results last. Do people look a little strange as the face starts to fall again as the years go by...I'm mean, do things fall in a weird way because of the previous surgeries?
Yes, even after a facelift and brow lift and any other lift, we still live in a world with gravity and motion and all the forces that produce the inevitable sagging of tissues. I tell my patients that if immediately after surgery we put them in the "deep freeze", they will never sag or droop! :) Otherwise, expect the same forces to affect their post-surgical effects. The good news is that if patients desire (and their overall health is maintained,) it is possible and sometimes desirable to perform additional procedures in future years. For example a "tuck up" facelift procedure can actually help build on the previous one, especially if augmented with fillers (additional volume). And it might not be necessary to repeat the exact same procedure; sometimes a slightly lesser procedure will provide enough "maintenance" to help provide a nice natural appearance. So it is very smart to be realistic about "what goes up, given time, will come down". Being proactive and prepared is always a good idea in the big picture.
