What's the Best Way to Improve my Slightly Gappy Upper Smile? I'm Missing L Canine Tooth. (photo)

L upper canine tooth grew out high above gum line -> dentist pulled it out.. Thus, leaving me w/ spaces b/t the 2 front teeth & spaces b/t the front teeth & lateral incisors; arched R side but dented L side; shifted to L side. Would like to fix the front gap & even out the edges of the incisors for a more tight even smile. Bonding? Invisalign? Have a big smile, just cant say it's a big, beautiful one. Would luv a smile makeover for 30th bday!

A: gap solution

your teeth seem to be in good shape so i feel you would benefit the most from orthodontics. It is not what people want to hear but to prep and alter enamel that is in good shape is not recommended. the incisal plane discrepancies and spacing issues make doing bonding a very difficult and unreliable outcome unless the dds is very skilled. porcelain restorations to alter the spacing issues would be esthetically better but you are irreversibly changing the teeth which brings me back to the ortho solution.

Do You Recommend a Lift Or Can I Do With Only Implants? (photo)

Full C want DD - would I need a lift too or would the implant correct the sagging? I also want them closer together, as of now my nipples kind of look AROUND you, hah.

A: Breast lift

In my opinion what you "need" depends a lot on what you "want".  I have had patients with a similar appearance to you have a satisfactory result with just augmentation.  Some patients who desire more change with the nipple position require a lift.  Sometimes I think it is OK to settle for a little less perkiness to avoid the scaring that comes with a lift.  Even though I do most of my augmentation and breast lifts all at one surgery in you in might be advisable to just do the augmentation, see how you like it, then commit to a lift once you know it is absolutely necessary to make you happy.

Is it Safe to Go Back on Birth Control Before Mommy Makeover?

I am due in March and have scheduled a mommy makeover in August. Breast lift, tummy tuck, lipo, and possibly implants. Is it safe to go back on birth control before such a major surgery? Is there any I should avoid? I would like to try something that is long term such as the Mirena IUD but I am concerned about blood cloths

A: Birth Control Pills

As you can tell from the previous responses there is a variation of opinion.  I used to not ask patients to stop birth control pills but after having a patient who was taking birth control pills have a deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and some data showing possibly a 7 fold increase in DVT risk in patients taking birth control pills I now ask patients to stop them about a month before surgery.  Especially for higher risk surgery like an abdominoplasty it would be highly advisable to stop hormone therapy since a DVT can kill you.
