I had 1st IPL done week ago. Very plae skin, and A LOT of freckles. After 1st day ONLY 10 frecles turned darker, out of a million!skin wasnt even red. I was asked to come back for 3rd run in 4 days, to finish first treatment (long story:)). The 3rd run- on higher setting (as I was told), but didnt hurt at all (comparing to 1 time), and - no redness, no swelling, AND NOT A SINGLE MORE DARK FRECKLE!!! like I wouldnt have done anything on my face. Is IPL not working? Do I need higher settings?
Go back to the same office and discuss your results thus far. I agree that a test spot on the side of your face would be a safe way to test the results of a higher setting. Don't forget about topical creams! While they don't have the cache of lasers they can be very effective in this exact setting. Good luck!
ive done my first session of ipl 5 days ago to remove acne scars and i am new to the subject. but the scars have increased in redness and i understand it is a normal reaction from what ive read. And i would like to know if i can do my next session after 15 days so as to speed up removal of acne scars?
I typically treat my patients at 3-4 week intervals with IPL. Whether this will help with your acne scars depends on what type they are. If it is a color discrepancy then the IPL may help but if it is more of a depression or ice pick scar I would recommend alternative treatments. Please review the acne scar answers on link. Good luck!
I Have Some Light Olive Skin Tone with Freckles, is IPL a Good Thing for Me
As discussed, the darker your skin tone the more difficult IPL treatment becomes. I would consider topical treatments for brown spots first. This may improve your skin pigmentation alone. Also, the creams tend to quiet everything down so that if you do opt for a laser treatment it will be somewhat safer for you. Don't be set on an IPL though-- discuss options with your provider. Good luck!
