Where Can and Can't You Inject Fat on the Face?

Where can and can't you inject fat on the face? The doctor I recently consulted with told me that fat cannot be injected into the nose tip and chin because fat doesn't exist there.

A: Fat Grafting

Fat grafting or transfer is a great way to improve the harsh facial contours that develop as one ages.  In my hands, I do not inject fat in the lips (it absorbs too fast because of all of the motion) and I do not inject specific fine wrinkles. I use other injectables for those problems. Other than that I feel that I can really improve the global changes in the face with fat.  The results are soft and natural appearing.  It can be a stand alone procedure in younger patients or combined with other procedures in older patients.  Good luck!

How Long Does the Quicklift Last?

I am a 56 year old female. I do not have a sagging neck just deep pores and wrinkles around my mouth.

A: Quick Lift Explanation

The quick lift is a name for a modified face lift. It typically addresses the jowl and neck areas.  Multiple factors (weight, degree of laxity, etc) will determine if you are a candidate.  The nice thing about a quick lift is that it can be modified for you.  So, an indepth consultation is needed to determine if the quick lift is right for you.  Perhaps different procedures that address skin texture and wrinkles are better suited for you.  Good luck!  Hannah Vargas, M.D.

How Will a Facelift Effect the Definition of my Chin?

Are the changes in definition equal across the face with a facelift? Will certain areas be relatively unaffected by the lift?

A: Areas of Improvement from Facelift

When most people use the term Facelift they are referring to a lower facelift.  With that surgery,  the vast amount of improvement will be in the neck, the jowls (lower cheek tissue) and the marrionette lines.  You may see some improvement in the the nasolabial lines and upper cheeks but that is more variable.  A midface ift and brow lift will give more improvement to their respective areas.  Add on procedures can be done at the same time as a facelift to tailor your surgery further and address any particular problems.  Good luck!
