One Doctor Says Browlift, the Other Says Upper Bleph? What to Do?

How can I determine which I need?? I have seen two excellent facial plastic surgeons and I've heard two different stories. One is saying I need a browlift and an upper bleph would cause my brow to drop. The other doctor is saying I need the upper bleph and I would look "done" with the browlift. I tend to like the browlift guy better and can see how raising my lateral brow would look pretty good if he doesn't go crazy. How can I tell what I need? Thank you all!!!

A: you need both

When thinking about correcting periorbital aging you need to take in consideration all the structures involved (i.e. eyelids, upper and lower.brows and forehead; without forgetting the skin surface). Blepharoplassty will only address the skin and fat deposits located in the eyelids. For the brow you will have several options: browlift ( i prefer endoscopic),lateral browlift (addressing only the lateral aspect of the brow) or browpexy (suspension of the brow, through the bleph incision). Do not forget that depending in the particular patient needs can be different, however as a general rule the more invasive the best results you can obtain. I would recommend you to see another surgeon board certified plastic surgeon with a particular interest in periorbital surgery.

What is a "Botox Lift" or "Botox Brow Lift"?

I thought that Botox could make your face sag more, so how is a Botox Lift even possible? How does a Botox Brow lift work?

A: BOTOX Browlift

Yes, some muscles of the upper face lift the brow and some lower the brow.  If we weaken the muscles that lower the brow a modest elevation will occur.  It is a nice lift and will give you an idea of what a brow lift can do for you.  In addition, weakening the muscles that pull your brow and lateral eyelids down is helpful to maintain the results of your browlift.  Good luck!

How Long Is The Recovery Time For The "Lateral" Brow Lift?

would like an idea how long the swelling/bruising of a Lateral Brow Lift might be?

A: Lateral Brow Lift

Recovery for most patients is one week but I always estimate between 1-3 weeks.  If the  patient tends to bruise easily or if they want to be absolutely and completely bruise free then count on the longer time.

One way to help predict if you will like the results of the lateral brow lift is to have your provider inject a small amount of BOTOX just above your lateral brow.   You should see a modest elevation to you lateral brow.  While this is just a small amount of what can be lifted surgically, it should give you an idea of what to expect from the lateral brow lift.  Discuss further with your surgeon.  Good luck!
