How Many Inches Are Lost with Lipo?

In 5 weeks I schedualed beneilli breast lift, augmentation, and liposuction abs/flanks. I am 30 yr old, 5’6”, 135 lbs, 34B, 27.5, 36, small frame, athletic. lost approx 95lbs and kept off for 10 yrs no children yet. looking to achieve body sculpting of upper abs, above bellybutton, an area which won't go away with D&E. Flank area to make waist smaller goal 25inch. Am I unrealistic looking for 2.5inch drop after lipo?

A: Loss of inches from liposuction

Liposuction should be viewed as a body sculpting procedure. Several factors determine how effective liposuction will be including your body habitus, the amount of skin elasticity you have and the amount of excess fatty tissue you currently possess. There is no accurate correlation of how many inches can be removed in conjunction with the amount of fat removed. Patients who tend to do best are those who diet and exercise and have realistic expectations of what can be achieved from their surgery.

Good luck.

Where to Begin the Battle Vs. Huge Stomach and Breasts

I'm 39. I am 5.4" tall and weigh 219lbs. I am still fairly attractive but I can't seem to find where to begin the battle. My average weight has been around 145. I am comfortable there, I've had a complete thyroid panel recently all WNL. I have a stocky frame but I can live with that. It's this huge stomach and the breasts that rest on it. I get depressed and eat more, seriously i need solid educated advice as to where to start. Please only respond with respect.

A: Begin the battle with diet and exercise

I agree with my colleagues that plastic surgery is not the quick fix to your problems. I would advise that you begin dieting and exercise to lose weight and feel better.

If you have difficulty doing this on your own, seek out the help of a weight loss specialist and registered dietician. You may also be a candidate for bariatric surgery. It would be in your best interest to seek out a board certified general surgeon who performs bariatric surgery to see if you are a candidate.

Once you have gotten down to your goal weight and have been able to maintain this for at least 6 months, I would then recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to address your abdomen and breasts.

Unfortunately, there is no quick fix to losing weight quickly and safely, however, losing weight in a supervised and controlled fashion will give you rewarding, predictable and long lasting results.

Good luck.

Liposuction and Kidney Cancer

I would like to have liposuction on my tummy and maybe upper thighs. I am 62 yr old female with kidney cancer and do chemo every week. Can I have this done and what is the BEST procedure?

A: Check with your oncologist before having surgery.

Without seeing a picture, it would be difficult to determine which procedure(s) you would benefit from the most. Chemotherapy causes your immune system to be depressed and therefore inhibits wound healing and increases the risk of developing an infection.

My advice would be to talk to your oncologist to see if he/she feels proceeding with an elective surgery is a good idea. If he/she does, I would then recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to determine which procedure(s) would best address your areas of concern.

Good luck
